NBC: AG Barr expands mysterious review into origin of Russia investigation

If U.S. Attorney John Durham is conducting a criminal investigation, it’s not clear what allegations of wrongdoing are being examined.

A review launched by Attorney General William Barr into the origins of the Russia investigation has expanded significantly amid concerns about whether the probe has any legal or factual basis, multiple current and former officials told NBC News.

The prosecutor conducting the review, Connecticut U.S. Attorney John Durham, has expressed his intent to interview a number of current and former intelligence officials involved in examining Russia’s effort to interfere in the 2016 presidential election, including former CIA Director John Brennan and former director of national intelligence James Clapper, Brennan told NBC News.

Durham has also requested to talk to CIA analysts involved in the intelligence assessment of Russia’s activities, prompting some of them to hire lawyers, according to three former CIA officials familiar with the matter. And there is tension between the CIA and the Justice Department over what classified documents Durham can examine, two people familiar with the matter said.

They’ve been derided as a “Deep State,” slurred as “Obama holdovers,” threatened with draconian budget cuts and told that President Donald Trump doesn’t even need them.

Now, America’s diplomats are taking their revenge.

Story Continued Below

In recent days, current and former Foreign Service officers have defied Trump administration orders and trudged to Capitol Hill to testify before House committees investigating whether to impeach the president. Colleagues inside the State Department and their allies in the broader foreign policy community are quietly hailing them as heroes, with special praise for those testifying despite still being on the government payroll.

China ramped up Soybean purchases from Brazil last week, despite President Trump showboating a potential $50 billion agriculture deal with Beijing.

Multiple traders told Reuters that Brazilian soybeans are more appealing to commercial importers, especially ones from China, who are looking for deep discounts.

As of last week, Beijing hasn't lifted 25% tariffs on US soybeans nor granted new waivers to state-owned businesses, indicating that China isn't ready to buy US agriculture products, as of late October.

China typically sources most of its soybeans from the US between October and January, then from South American countries in early 1Q. But this year, according to traders, as the trade war continues to escalate to the point of return, China is abandoning US markets despite positive sentiment from President Trump's tweets.

What on earth does this have to do with FISA court abuses?

And who was Brazil selling their soybeans to?

Agricultural products are like other commodities. They are fungible. It is like playing a game of whack-a-mole.

Whoever Basil sold to before might now need to get the soybeans from a new source like the US. Unless soy bean supply went up. Then someone will buy US soybeans.

Over time Brasil Soybean supply might go up. Liberal twits will belt out a a huge "Huzzah!" and then find out they plowed over the whole Amazon Jungle.

Liberals, when you absolutely, positively need stupidity, they do not disappoint.

There is no slurring the Obama appointed Ukraine ambassador. She was corrupt and a Democrat political operative.

"I predict the blow-back against this investigation will only grow with time"

1) It was 2nd down and 3. The 49ers expected blow-back against their offensive from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

2) The Mexican police arrested drug lord Ovidio Guzman Lopez, son of drug boss Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman. Expect blow-back.

Oh we got blow-back. The Cartel hit back.

3) The Americans, British and Canadian landed at Normandy. The Allies expected blow-back.

4) Germany launched Operation Barbarossa. The German General Staff expected blow-back.

5) A cabal led by Brennan/Obama is operating in the US. They are being investigated. Of course we can expect blow-back from the CHUDs.

Fredo or someone Fredo-like is really ramping up the CHUD propaganda.

Fox'sa Wallace is Chris Wallace. Chris's daddy is Mike Wallace and is a big fat lib. The apple did not fall far from the tree.

CHUDs like Harry Reid have been known to LIE BEFORE. Reid, A FELLOW Mormon, lied about Romeny's tax returns. The CHUD never apologized.

But Fredo or someone Fredo-lite believe Chris Wallace. About says it all.

Trump did not ask that Ukraine get tougher on corruption in general. He asked that a specific investigation be conducted into Joe Biden, a political rival, and his son.

We've never had a president like Trump: Trump's unmatched sleaze: Grifters, women, trampling Constitution and now G-7 at Doral

This wasn’t a request to advance the foreign policy objectives of the United States. It was to improve Trump’s odds of winning re-election in 2020.

Any doubt about that was removed by his request that Ukraine work with Rudy Giuliani in the investigation of the Bidens. Giuliani isn’t a foreign policy official representing the U.S. government. He is Trump’s personal lawyer. He was representing Trump the candidate, not Trump the president.

It is inappropriate, and an abuse of power, for a president to ask a foreign government specifically to investigate a political rival. That is what Trump asked of Zelensky privately. And he compounded it by making a similar request to China publicly.

Consistently off topic and consistently pathetic.

President Trump wrote an "error-ridden" tweet Sunday that inspired reporters to take it apart pretty much word by word, Newsweek reports. Now deleted—after thousands of shares—the tweet referred to Secretary of Defense Mark Esper as "Mark Esperanto" and made claims that raised a few eyebrows: "Mark Esperanto, Secretary of Defense, 'The ceasefire is holding up very nicely. There are some minor skirmishes that have ended quickly. New areas being resettled with the Kurds.' USA soldiers are not in combat or ceasefire zones. We have secured the Oil. Bringing soldiers home!" Among the responses:

"So much wrong in this tweet," tweets Washington Post columnist Josh Rogin. "US troops are not coming home, they are going to Iraq. We don't have the oil. And the Defense Secretary's name is not 'Esperanto.'"

Giuliani has a wide range of foreign clients despite serving as Trump's personal attorney, which has put many on edge.
"There's this sense of paranoia here," one administration official tells me.
More alarm bells rang this week after the Washington Post reportedthat Giuliani had privately urged Trump to extradite Fethullah Gulen, a Turkish cleric living in exile in Pennsylvania, something Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has asked for repeatedly.

Trump Says Extraditing Turkish Cleric Fethullah Gulen Is 'Not Under Consideration

Plus, who is Gulen?

Do we know?

I doubt Phredo knows. He does read past the headline.

"From 2002 to 2013, the Gülen movement comprehensively collaborated with the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in obtaining political power in Turkey."

We do know that Erdogan has not changed his stripe or altered his course and Gulen was cozy with him 11 or more years before mid 2013.

But the autist never reads past the headline.

The only person Donald Trump has ever been “for” is Donald Trump.

Everyone else is expendable, including his children and for sure, you Anon.

He will throw Pence and every member of his cabinet under the bus to save himself. Mick Mulvaney and William Barr, toast. He has already tried to blame the Ukrainian mess on Rick Perry, who quickly resigned, and on the same day he committed the same crime in front of the press, only this time adding China to the mix.

Trump will blame everyone around him to avoid taking the blame himself. And if Trump goes down, “Moscow” Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, Brett Kavanaugh, Rudy Giuliani, Sean Hannity, Kellyanne Conway and anyone else he can think of.

Oh, and given the opportunity, The USA.

And once again Bob Huntley voids all over this blog.

Bob still does not understand human psychology.

Someone once told me that "parenthood is at once the most selfish and least selfish thing a person could do". I do not think that a person of Bob's low calibre could make heads or tails of that.

It was nice for a while, but Bob is back and so is the smell.
