WNU Editor: According to Russian media, it was Turkish President Erdogan who initiated the phone call to Russian President Putin, and during the discussion Putin made the decision to invite Erdogan to Moscow. That must have been quite a phone conversation for Russian President Putin to make the decision on the spur of the moment to make this offer to Erdogan to visit Moscow. My gut is telling me that Erdogan telegraphed his concerns to Putin that he was worried/scared/panicking on what he has started, and Putin saw it as an opportunity to make a deal with Erdogan that would be favourable to Russia. The fact that Erdogan quickly accepted this offer confirms to me that he is looking for a way out.
