A couple I played cards with some time ago moved to the USA to be with their daughter and her family. They took out US citizenship and told me that one thing they had to do was swear an oath that if war were to break out between the US and Canada they would support the US.

At the time, travel to Cuba for US residents was prohibited. Actually in the Visa and MasterCard world world there wasn't even a country code set up for Cuba. Still people from all over the world traveled to Cuba and the cards were accepted with the transactions being processed for hotels etc through proxies in Europe and elsewhere.

My friends told me that it didn't take long to learn how to by-pass the no Cuban trip for Americans embargo. A travel agency in Jamaica made the arrangements. Americans had to go first to Jamaica and then were flown to Cuba. The Cuban government facilitated the process by not stamping American's passports who had to go back to Jamaica to return to America.

My sister went there a few yeas before Trump. Said she'd never go back. Pretty rundown and meager everything. Didn't regret it but no reruns. Same with Egypt.
