Imagine a military force that could prevail against America’s adversaries in great-power competition without going to war. As the specifics of “competition” with China and Russia continue to vex national leaders down to tactical military formations, new times call for new approaches to secure America’s national interests. United States Army special operations forces should be the force of choice to lead these efforts against adversaries that deliberately avoid America’s conventional strengths.

I'll mark these to read but it bugs me when Media outlets write stuff like these. If it came from think tanks or a military pub that's fine but Media outlets should avoid writing these materials. Again, will read.
Ah yes asymmetic wars.
1. Fund groups of people that want to overthrow the government.
2. Start, or, help to create violent conflict.
3. Provide military support, training, or, direct military involvement with U.S. soldiers in combat roles.
4. Continue working to increase levels of conflict until it is full-scale war.
5. Then exit.
6. Mission accomplished.
Stability of a country has been destroyed. This may sometimes be the only goal for whatever reason, or, it may be the goal in order to further isolate an ally, or, in this case perhaps another target nation, like maybe Iran in this case, to create better a opportunity to invade that other nation in the future.
This is the ever continuing U.S. policy. It is very successful because the goal is not to create honest and friendly relations with non white nations, although that is claimed to be a goal. The goal is to maintain disorder, chaos, and violence to prevent opportunities of long-lasting unification forming between non-western nations as in "DIVIDE AND CONQUER".
In the process of course you have to disregard that what you are doing is criminal and have no sorrow for the innocent lives you have helped end and destruction and suffering you have caused.
But for sure, to ensure some measure, no matter how minute, of support from your own citizens, praise your own soldiers who have fallen, for basically nothing, to the hilt while cursing the so called enemy.
