U.S. Special Forces Soldier In Syria: 'I Am Ashamed For The First Time In My Career'

FOX New: Turkey's Syria invasion: Member of US Special Forces says, 'I am ashamed for the first time in my career'

PENTAGON – A member of U.S. Special Forces serving alongside the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Syria told Fox News on Wednesday they were witnessing Turkish atrocities on the frontlines.

“I am ashamed for the first time in my career,” said the distraught soldier, who has been involved in the training of indigenous forces on multiple continents. The hardened service member is among the 1,000 or so U.S. troops who remain in Syria.

“Turkey is not doing what it agreed to. It’s horrible,” the military source on the ground said. “We met every single security agreement. The Kurds met every single agreement [with the Turks]. There was no threat to the Turks -- none -- from this side of the border."

WNU Editor: I understand the geopolitical reasons why President Trump made the decision to acquiesce to Turkish demands that they wanted to occupy northern Syria. I also understand why President Trump is frustrated when he has to write a letter to a family who has lost a loved one in one of those never-ending wars in the Middle East. But the Kurds have been the only true ally to the U.S. in this part of the world, and they have paid for it in blood. That is why the U.S. decision to abandon northern Syria to a duplicitous person like Erdogan sucks.  The intelligent thing to do when facing a superior force is to back away, which is what the U.S. is doing. But in your heart you know that you are deserting your friends who would not back away if you are in trouble. Feeling shameful does not even touch the surface on how these soldiers feel.

New hotel going up in Ankara any time soon? Trump will turn on all peoples, even and perhaps especially Americans when he thinks it is to his advantage.

Erdogan is infected with the pasa disease.

This victory over USA/Kurds is a short term tactical win.

Strategically for the long view Turkey may be isolated.

1.) Erdogan has hostages, the American airbase with the personnel and possibly 50 nukes.

2.) People on the left and right have spilt ink stating we have no legal basis to be in Syria. Given this battle has not been fought aggressively, it gives pundits, politicians and trolls room to snipe.

We have a legal right to be in Syria. In addition we owe it to the Kurds and Basher Assad.

Rand Paul is sniping. He was for supporting the Kurds about 3 years ago and now he is for pulling out.

3.) Some people have stated this is the worse thing ever. It is not. The president is not tone deaf and he looks at the bottom line when others do not. If people honestly wanted us to be in Syria there would be a vocal majority of 51% or better succinctly stating what our basis for being there is. As it is the are too many people com-plaining about cost, WIC, number of bases, etc.

We have left people behind before.

We left 4 marines (PFC Gary Hall and Pvt Danny Marshall and others) behind in the Mayaguez incident. We left people behind inn Korea and Vietnam. Some prisoners ended up in Russia until put to death.

The Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command should be digging up remains in Russia.

PS: IMO we should create a Kurdish state. It should have been done after WW1. I will be voting for Trump for the border wall the long overdue trade war with China and many other reasons.

If we did not win the Syrian intervention on the home front, how could we stay? Firstly, I blame fuck ass liberals. Secondly, I blame RINOs. I blame journalists; that is monkeys, who sleep their way to the top.

Al Qaim is north of Rutbah. This is interesting. Rutbah is a place where a particular guerilla leader wanted to return. He was staying in Syria under Assad's protection. We built a wall around Rutbah and soy boy guerilla leader could not get in to tear things up and take over So he was trying to talk his way in and they say walls don't work. Point is that Assad protected and aided people attacking US forces in Iraq during the Gulf War. That alone is legal justification for being in Syria.
