The Guardian: US to reverse Trump troop withdrawal and send tanks to Syria – reports

* Tanks to come from units already in Middle East, report says
* Trump has said US ‘secured oil’ despite withdrawal

The US is reportedly planning to deploy tanks and other heavy military hardware to protect oil fields in eastern Syria, in a reversal of Donald Trump’s earlier order to withdraw all troops from the country.

The most likely destination for US armoured units is a Conoco gas plant near the city of Deir Ezzor, the site of a February 2018 clash between US special forces and Syrian regime-backed militias fighting with Russian mercenaries.

Fox News reported such a deployment was “likely” and that the tanks would come from units already in the Middle East. CNN said it would happen relatively soon.

I wonder if the proposed Iran-Syria-Iraq petroleum pipeline with Russian frosting will cause Europe to change their collective minds about fracking and other realistic energy sources from bad to not so bad after all. Of course...there's always hot air from the world's Gretas to warm a few homes and turn a few more windmills. And large candles.

merica will never desert Syria's oil, President Trump promised Thursday—and he suggested that if the Kurds want protection, they should move closer to the oil. Syria's oil fields "were held by ISIS until the United States took them over with the help of the Kurds," Trump tweeted. "We will NEVER let a reconstituted ISIS have those fields!" He added that he had enjoyed a conversation with Syrian Kurdish commander Mazloum Abdi, and "perhaps it is time for the Kurds to start heading to the Oil Region." A Pentagon source tells USA Today that the US plans to send troops, tanks, and armored vehicles to protest oil fields in eastern Syria, just weeks after most American troops withdrew from the country.

WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE FUCK WE ARE DOING UNDER TRUMP!
