Business Insider: 4 US B-52 bombers just got back from a month flying all around Europe — here's what they were up to
* US B-52 bombers and airmen deployed to the UK in October for Bomber Task Force 20-1.
* Bomber Task Force deployments are meant train US aircrews while reassuring partners and deterring foes.
* This rotation, which ended this week, was no different, as US bombers flew all over Europe and into the high north.
Four US Air Force B-52 bombers from the 2nd Bomb Wing at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana arrived in England with about 300 airmen on October 10 for a bomber task force deployment.
The bombers were deployed to RAF Fairford to "conduct integration and interoperability training" with partners in the region and to "exercise Air Force Global Strike Command's ability to conduct bomber operations from a forward operating location" in support of US Air Forces in Europe and US European Command.
Amid heightened tensions with Russia after its 2014 seizure of Crimea, bomber task force exercises over Europe are also meant to reassure US partners and to be a deterrent to Moscow — this deployment, like others before it, also saw US bombers fly close to Russia in Eastern Europe and the high north.

I'm always in awe watching and reading about how much time, resources, and currency we spend on preventing wars by upgrading our military, INSTEAD of addressing the root causes.
What are the root causes of human warfare? All these lie in us, are treatable, yet we just fix the symptoms. Trillions(!) - not billions - TRILLIONS(!!!) spent on warfare just this decade. About 3-4 trillion in just the last 20 years. Much more if we count in the lost opportunity costs, the collateral damage, the lives lost, the misery and hatred our "strategic think tanks" spread world wide. Terrorism. All these things are connected, and all we do is "lets increase the budget some more". Like wtf is no one seeing that?
But these numbers are so large so it's hard to imagine what we spend on warfare
Image instead we could buy 100,000 schools, hospitals, fix all infrastructure, and pay people even a minimum income so they don't end up in prison or commit crimes. Living quality, societal peace all would go up. Why the f**k do we keep on doing this?
Ignorance is worse than war and epidemic's. Unculture too. Stop any spending on military, and yes, it will happen the same thing which happen in Europe in WWII: occupation.
The Roman Empire suffer that problem few times and they finally said : if you want peace , prepare war. I know that's hard to understand because this need a brain, and I'm sorry for those who have not.
