Ayatollah Ali Khamenei says ‘hooligans’ guilty of sabotage are ‘Iran’s enemies’
Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has backed 50% petrol price increases that have sparked protests across Iran, claiming opponents of the Islamic Republic and foreign enemies were guilty of sabotage.
But there were also moves from Iranian parliamentarians to reverse the rise amid fears the protests could spiral out of control, as they have in Iraq and Lebanon.
Khamenei said on Sunday: “Some people are no doubt worried by this decision ... but sabotage and arson is done by hooligans not our people. The counter-revolution and Iran’s enemies have always supported sabotage and breaches of security and continue to do so.”

Hmmm is this the beginning of the end of these guys?
1. Gas hikes at times of unrest - very, very, very bad idea
2. Cutting the internet at times of unrest - VERRRRRY, very bad idea (Iranians not just want the international news, but also international porn - just check their download statistics.. porn is #1).. take away a population's porn access, and take their fuel to get around in a hot country, baaaaaad times, man
3. Don't talk about finding a 10 trillion oil field just a week earlier and then hike gas prices. People will be like wtf, and rightfully so
That America is not the focus of the unrest is surprising. And welcome.
