Al Jazeera: Russia baulks at Turkish idea of new Syrian military operation

Russia's defence ministry says it is puzzled by Turkish FM comments since Moscow upheld its part of Putin-Erdogan deal.

Russia said on Tuesday it was bewildered by a Turkish pledge to conduct a new military operation in northern Syria if the area was not cleared of people Ankara calls "terrorists", warning any such move would damage efforts to stabilise the region.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Monday his country would launch a new offensive in northeast Syria if it was not cleared of the Kurdish YPG militia.

USA and Russia joining forces to restrain if not threaten Turkey. How the world can change. Turkey and the USA used to be the gold standard for anti Russian alliance. Now turned on its head. Take nothing for granted on countries alliances.
