Merkel is a shooting star. That is gravity is more of a force than anything else now.

Her intellect is decaying as fast as her decrepit body.

She is like a cannon ball that is past its apex. There "ain't" now way but down. Shew is taking Germany along for the ride.

Ursula Von Der Leyen

Minister of Defence
In office
17 December 2013 – 17 July 2019

She'll do as good of a job as President of the European Commission as she did as German Defense minister. She might see a patch forward, might advocate somewhat for it, and in the final analysis it won't matter.

She will be polite, proper and ineffective. Things will go to Hell, which is why Bulls in China shops like Boris or Trump are much more valued.

Der Leyen is like Theresa May. There to manage the decline in a prim and proper diplomatic manner.

Eh, how is Greta "powerful"..?

Greta is a very important pawn.

She can shout liberal talking points ad infinitum and you are not suppose to rpely, because if you do you are a monster for arguing with a child.

This child, Greta, is a pawn (a figurehead & yet still an active participant).

Democrat in the US have been using the refrain "for the children" since that days of the Clinton regency. International liberals have taken a page from the Democrat playbook.
