Defense News: Ukraine could get new, deadlier missiles, thanks to Congress
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Congress is poised to allow the sale of coastal defense and anti-ship weapons as part of future security assistance packages to Ukraine, through the 2020 defense policy bill.
The National Defense Authorization Act passed the House this week and is expected to be passed in the Senate next week; President Donald Trump has already announced he will sign the sweeping policy bill.
The change comes as U.S. military aid is at the center of impeachment proceedings playing out against Trump in Washington. The impeachment has dragged Ukraine into the spotlight at a time the European nation continues to struggle with ongoing military activities from Russia.

WNU editor: Aside from all the rhetoric coming from Washington on this sale of anti-ship missiles, these weapons will not bring peace or stability to Ukraine, and it will not certainly not resolve the bitter ethnic divisions that exist in that country.

As always the issue is about money and positioning. Usefulness is outside the realm of expectation.

200 fire and forget anti-tank missiles will not defeat Russia. It is within Ukraine's budget and more importantly it would slow Russia down long enough and be costly enough to dissuade Russian attack.
200 anti-tank missiles is not much at all to support the cost of a factory. Maybe a cynic such as yourself should do the cost accounting to see for yourself.
