'There have been important developments on potential causes of the crash — developments of which Canadians should be made aware'

OTTAWA — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addressed the nation Thursday afternoon amid multiple reports pointing the finger at Iran for the downing of a Ukraine International Airlines flight, killing all on board including 138 people who were headed to Canada.

Addressing assembled media in Ottawa, Trudeau said Canada has intelligence that indicates the plane was shot down by an Iranian missile.

“We have intelligence from multiple sources including our Allies and our own intelligence, the intelligence indicates that the plane was shot down by an Iranian surface to air missile. This may well have been unintentional,” he said.
