French Foreign Minister: Iran Is 'One Or Two Years' Away From Getting A Nuclear Weapon



Daily Mail: Iran is 'one or two years' away from getting a nuclear weapon if Tehran continues to violate the 2015 accord, France warns

* French foreign minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said Iran getting bomb 'not an option'
* He spoke as EU ministers and NATO secretary general set for emergency summit
* Le Drian insisted the Vienna deal 'is not dead' and hopes to salvage it

Iran is close to developing its own nuclear weapons, France's foreign minister warned today.

Jean-Yves Le Drian said if the regime carried on violating the 2015 deal restricting its weapons programme then it could become a nuclear power in just 'one or two years.'

Tehran has been gradually breaching aspects of the deal since President Donald Trump walked away from it in 2018 and imposed crippling economic sanctions.

They will get the bomb, unless the country is occupied (extremely unlikely), or the Islamic Republic is overthrown somehow (also unlikely). The US has the ability to destroy some facilities but that's only a temporary delay.

The Iran deal allowed the Iranians to get the bomb anyway. It just slowed down the process while it allowed the European countries a chance to make money dealing with the mullahs. It's a variation on Lenin's statement of how the capitalists will sell the rope by which they'll be hanged.
