CNN: No. 2 US general says North Korea building new missiles 'as fast as anybody on the planet'
Washington (CNN)North Korea is "building new missiles, new capabilities, new weapons as fast as anybody on the planet," and learning from its mistakes as it makes advances in its missile programs, the No. 2 general at the Pentagon said Friday.
Air Force Gen. John Hyten, the vice-chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, made the comments as talks between Washington and Pyongyang over North Korea's nuclear program have stalled and Kim Jong Un has signaled he may be ready to test more missiles that could be capable of hitting the United States.
"If you want to go fast in the missile business you need to test fast, fly fast and learn fast. Look at Space X in this country. There were some pretty spectacular failures. Did they stop? No," Hyten said while speaking at the Center for Strategic & International Studies in Washington.

Did the Pentagon say they moved any patriot batteries to Iraq?
These units are small enough in number that they usually make news when they are moved say to South Korea.
So the bases had no defenses. So you cannot say anything about Patriot effectiveness viz a viz Iranian ballistic missiles.
It does say say something about how many assets the US has or what they thought the force posture should be.
You are usually smarter than this Caecus. What happened?
That's what I meant, the base had no defenses. US chiefs probably didn't believe the Iranians would dare retaliate in that way, or that there missiles weren't that accurate.

Or accepted the risk. You cannot defend against everything. there are not the resources.
In the future the Phalanx CIWS will be replaced by a laser.
