SCMP: Asian health officials fear Wuhan coronavirus outbreak is larger than China’s letting on
* As the number of people infected on the mainland leapt from 41 to more than 300 this week, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand have all reported cases
* The surge has raised concerns over Beijing’s transparency and rekindled mistrust generated during the deadly 2003 Sars outbreak
Health authorities across Asia are concerned the outbreak of the mysterious new coronavirus is larger than Chinese authorities have stated, amid a surge in the number of people infected in mainland China and as three other countries in the region confirm cases.
The number of people confirmed to have contracted the disease on the mainland jumped from 41 to more than 300 this week, with six deaths so far, while Thailand has reported two cases and Japan, Taiwan and South Korea have reported one case each of the virus – which is in the same family as the deadly severe acute respiratory syndrome (Sars) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (Mers) viruses.
“It is hard to believe [the official number of] cases, but there are all these cases popping up in so many neighbouring countries,” said Piotr Chlebicki, an infectious disease expert at Mount Alvernia Hospital in Singapore
who worked on the nation’s Sars epidemic. “China has a track record of under-reporting cases, so the true picture may be completely different.”

WNU Editor: My red flags went up when I read this .... China virus spreads to health workers; six patients dead (Bloomberg). When health workers start to get sick, that is when you know you have a serious disease that is now spreading through the general population. Bottom line. This could quickly escalate into a global pandemic.

The last great pandemic was a little over 100yrs ago. Since then it has been a series of mopping up ( malaria, small pox, polio etc) or organizing ( WHO, CDC, etc) unfortunately politics (as it always does) have forced these orgs to stray from their original purpose.
It has been awhile, but do Chinese restaurant bathrooms in major Chinese cities have soap in them?
When the corona virus does get to the US, due to the policies of liberals, LA city hall will look like "Fear of the Walking Dead". LA city Hall already has typhus.

It is in the US. 1st case in Washington state. This should be interesting. Why did the US not cancel all flights out of China when this started? Sure takes them a while. Person did go to the Wushan but didn't go to the markets where this virus started.
Considering the importance of "face", I would not give a whole lot of credibility to mainland China's postings of the spread of this disease.
Then, one must consider how much property has been purchased over the years in this country and to which the overseas Chinese owners may now be considering moving as a refuge. I have such a property next to me. Helped them find their purchase years ago. E-bay purchase and they hadn't even seen it. They spoke little ing-rish and I spoke even less chi-kneez. Nonetheless, they had a map and I could read it. Mission accomplished.

Liberals as in people exposing themselves to Chinese diplomats to finally get that trade deal, signed, sort of.
