Reuters: Russia's Lavrov, after Pompeo meeting, says felt more constructive U.S. approach
MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday after meeting U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo last week that he had felt a more constructive approach from Washington when it came to the U.S.-Russia strategic dialogue.
The two top diplomats met on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference on Friday in an encounter that neither side has so far spoken about in detail.
“I felt certain small moves toward a more constructive approach by our American partners,” Lavrov said on his ministry’s website on Monday.
Lavrov said the two men had spoken about issues related to strategic dialogue between Russia and the United States and about arms control.

WNU Editor: I do not know who to believe. The above Reuters post says that Russian Minister Lavrov believes the U.S. is offering constructive approaches to the current US-Russia strategic discussion. Russian news media is saying something else .... US openly paves way for INF-banned missiles to be placed in Europe & Asia – Lavrov (RT).

Either way, I wouldn't trust anything involving Armageddonist Mike Pompeo.
why did Tdrump send Putin a Valentine card?
I found the perfect valentines card this year. It is nicely designed but the wording is especially good.
"Roses are red, violets are blue
I think you are reasonably attractive too
Nothing said in this card however should be taken
To mean you have a legal claim on my assets or future income
If this initial period of infatuation extends beyond a period of six months."
Are US Russian relations improving? Of course it is hard to "know" without access to inside information in real time. With that said we can make some inferences.
I would say under Trump relations have improved. As to the article about INF banned missiles I don't put a great deal of stock in that. All the US is doing here is leveling the so called field to a degree and will be expected by the Russians.
"Either way I wouldn't trust anything involving Armagedonist Mike Pompeo." Very respectfully the ones you need to be concerned with are the "Armagedonist" Iranians. Even if we assume Mr. Pompeo is such a person there are numerous checks on him. With that said we may not need to worry as much about the Iranians now. After the liquidation of Salami the Iranian response was mild compared to what it could have been. Also, the Russian and Chinese criticism of the US action here was tepid compared to what would have normally been expected. Additionally, the could have hurt us very, very badly in the wake of this. Thus far they have not. This leads me to believe that Russian and Chinese support for Iran is not as rock solid as it had been in the past. I believe this is a credit to Trump diplomacy. without such support the Iranians are not nearly as formidable.
"Why did Trump send Putin a Valentine card?" I wasn't aware that he did. I'm assuming you are being sarcastic. Nevertheless I will assume he did for the sake of this post. There could be any number of reasons why he might choose to do so. Vladimir Putin is a VIP in the world whose assistance we are going to need in any number of areas in the coming years. Oftentimes we send birthday cards, Christmas cards, and other kinds of greeting cards to very influential people in our lives because we understand the value of that relationship. A similar dynamic could be at work here.
