New Delhi Rocked By Riots During President Donald Trump's India Visit



ABC News Online: New Delhi riots leave more than a dozen dead as unrest over citizenship law spills over during Donald Trump visit

More than a dozen people have been killed and hundreds injured in violent protests over a new citizenship law in India's capital New Delhi.

The clashes were the worst in the capital since unrest over the new law began in December.

An official at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital in New Delhi said 13 people had died there and more than 150 injured people, many of them with bullet wounds, had been treated.

India's capital has been a focus of unrest against the Citizenship Amendment Act, which makes it easier for non-Muslims from three neighbouring Muslim-dominated countries to gain Indian citizenship.

I don't recall mass rioting in Houston when Trump and Modi held their giant rally in September.
