The World Health Organisation on Tuesday gave an official name – Covid-19 – to the disease caused by the coronavirus that has ravaged China and spread across the globe, as statistics suggested that infections could level off in the coming weeks and Beijing vowed to hold local cadres to account for failing to contain the outbreak.
China’s National Health Commission said on Tuesday that the country had reported 108 new deaths from the virus – the first time that 100 or more fatalities were recorded in a single day.
The outbreak, which was generally believed to have originated from Wuhan in central China, has killed 1,018 people worldwide – including one death in Hong Kong and another in the Philippines.

This is so out of proportion
The common flu kills millions (!!!!) every year around the world,every winter season like clock work. Hundreds of thousands in the US alone die of the common flu. Almost a million in China.
Why the FUCK should we care about this coronavirus HYPE that is only used by pharma and price speculators (look at stock prices of suppliers every time going up. You can bet every season it's guaranteed money)
The government MUST stop the corruption in the media that -together with speculators - has CREATED this.
The cost to the Chinese economy is in the hundreds of billions when all is said and done. This is madness. This virus is nothing special. It is a hype and everyone goes along with it. Just as SARS was the first successful viral hype (pun intended) and people made money off it.

The damage done by the yellow press (see 19th century term) is much greater than the damage done by the virus.
Journalist are trying to outdo lawyers in being slimy.
They needed a "dear to the heart" subject to move people off Trump so they are pushing this one. Also, if it were to really erupt and kill a few million, especially over here, no news outlet wants to be seen as missing the boat.
