CNBC: Bernie Sanders raises a staggering $25 million in January to fuel Super Tuesday push
* Bernie Sanders’ campaign says it raised $25 million in January, its biggest haul in a single month in the 2020 Democratic campaign.
* It plans to spend $5.5 million toward ads in advance of the critical Super Tuesday slate, which includes the delegate-rich states of California and Texas.
* Sanders is vying for first place in the delayed returns from the first-in-the-nation Iowa caucuses.
Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign raked in a whopping $25 million in January alone and will use the haul to bankroll ads and staff across the critical Super Tuesday slate.
The Vermont senator raised more in January than in any other month in the 2020 Democratic presidential race, his campaign said in announcing the haul Thursday. It added that it received 1.3 million donations from roughly 650,000 people.
The flood of cash came just before the start of 2020 primary nominating contests. Iowa held its first-in-the-nation caucuses Monday, followed by contests this month in New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina.

WNU Editor: Unlike the other candidates, the bulk Senator Sanders' money is coming from small donations. And while Pete Buttigieg has done well in Iowa .... Pete Buttigieg and Bernie Sanders are fighting for first place in the protracted Iowa caucus count (Politico), the momentum is still (IMHO) with the Vermont Senator. So what is my prediction on who will be the Democrat nominee for President. Former Vice-President Biden's campaign has problems. If he comes in third or fourth in New Hampshire and Nevada, it will be time for him to pack his bags. Senator Warren is not going to be the candidate that Democrats rally around, but she will be around for as long as possible. I have trouble seeing former Mayor Pete Buttigieg doing well in the next few primaries. Former mayor Bloomberg may have the money, but he is uninspiring on the campaign trial. And while Michael Bloomberg did win in New York City when he ran for mayor, running for the Presidency is a complete different game. Senator Amy Klobuchar lacks money, and money is what candidates at this stage of the race need. Bottom line. Senator Sanders will be the Democrat nominee, unless there is a brokered convention where an "anyone but Sanders" may emerge.
Update: The media are now hyping Pete Buttigieg .... Pete Buttigieg Gaining Quickly in New Hampshire as Bernie Sanders Stalls: Poll (Newsweek).

The voting results announced so far reminded me of a move I saw long ago. At the start of that movie there was a Board of Directors meeting in an advertising company. All of the directors were white except for the "Music" director, Putney Swope. At the meeting the Chairman died and the board immediately voted for a new director.
The directors all hated each other and of course Putney, so in a secret ballot they each wrote the name of the person they wanted to be the new Chairman. Believing nobody else would cast their ballot for the black guy each wrote his name, and he wrote his own. Putney Swope, also the name of the movie, became the Chairman by unanimous acclaim.
The movie goes on from there and is worth the watch.
Contrary to the movie it seems that almost nobody wanted Biden or even Warren for that matter. Personally I think Pete Buttigieg got the benefit of cast away ballots.
Will try to hunt down the movie.

"Personally I think Pete Buttigieg got the benefit of cast away ballots."
Bob has written a lot of stinkers, but the above analysis is the best Bob has ever wrote and worth the time to read it. Bob could be wrong (I think he is right), but the reasoning is sound.
Putney Swope is a 1969 satirical comedy film written and directed by Robert Downey Sr. and starring Arnold Johnson as the title character, a black advertising executive. The film satirizes the advertising world, the portrayal of race in Hollywood films, the white power structure, and the nature of corporate corruption.

Bernie is too hold to scamper & hide. He rolled out the lame response that he bought around 20 thousand in carbon credits to offset 1.6 million in private air travel.
