Chinese leaders covered up their knowledge of a possible coronavirus pandemic for six days after realising the grim situation, it has been revealed.
Beijing's top officials secretly determined that they were likely dealing with a major health crisis on January 14, evidence suggested, but President Xi only warned the public of the emergency on January 20.
Thousands of people were believed to contract the deadly disease during the six days in mid-January when the government kept the information from them.
The news comes as a former head of MI6 said today that Beijing concealed coronavirus from the West and is 'evading' blame for the pandemic.

WNU Editor: It was not a six day delay. Beijing held back everything for 6 weeks .... China’s Information about the Virus Wasn’t Six Days Late, More Like Six Weeks Late (Jim Geraghty, National Review). The big question that I have which remains unanswered is the following. Did the Chinese leadership, when learning that they had lost control of this epidemic in January, and realizing the destruction that it would bring to its economy and reputation, made the decision to ensure the spread of the disease worldwide so that they would suffer just as much as China. I am asking this question because I am someone who has lived in the Soviet Union, who understands communism and the communist mentality personally, who lived and worked in China in the 1980s, and (more to the point) knows too well on how these people think. This leak of memos from China tells me that there are some in China who are not happy with the leadership, who are deeply worried on what has happened, and they want the world to know (at great risk to themselves) on what China was doing at the start of this pandemic. Here is an easy prediction. Expect more leaks in the future.

@WNU, I think so... they knew their economy was going down while the USA was winning the trade war. When the pandemic broke out in China, they saw this as a method to take everyone down, hiding the collapse of their system as long as possible. The collapse will come, but they hope they bought more time. We all know their books are cooked, from the satellite light analysis data you showed, to the vast numbers of abandoned factories, office districts.. it's all show.
Build it, and they will come. Just they didn't come, and your buildings don't follow international building standards. So many collapsed already - even during the pandemic there was one - and so many more will follow soon, as no money is spent on improving all these rotting buildings. No international insurance company will insure (unless the rates are astronomical), hence they are limited for insurance to their own market, and.. as I said, that market is going down hill quicker than the Titanic.
In an act of desperation and to be able to further conceal the severity of this Chinese collapse, they might consider grabbing Taiwan now. Taiwan is an economic and strategic gem. They are very well educated in Taiwan, very rich and we all know the importance of the location. My guess is the Chinese are right now considering this very heavily. The only thing that stops them is they haven't figured out yet how to avoid a disastrous PR damage to their China brand. Once they have this figured out, they will go for it, all guns blazing (for them any conflict with Taiwan must be over quickly, before anyone can react/the World can have a moral campaign.. ie within a month.. and that is very, very hard, but possible, maybe the pandemic gives them couple more weeks time while we all have our economies devastated)

If the CCP decided to use the virus as an equaliser to spread around the world & launch a global depression, then that is a major act of war that cannot be ignored even if the virus isn't Weaponized. If it is 6 weeks then people take a look at the CDC's put country surveillance, WHO and DoD intel and not Trump.

Consider how shitty the press is. The same press that excoriates Trump for not shutting down the country, turn around 7 to 19 days later and excoriate him for saying he has the authority to open up the whole country. A fair minded person has to admit that is a pretty shitty press corps.

I felt a little bad, because they had got there 1st and I was merely repeating them.
Daily Mail ran an article that basically said Trump was crazy for saying he could open the country up. Now either he could do so with an executive order or he cannot. In this period of the imperial presidency, the president can get away with anything the press and the bulk of DC will let him get away with. That goes for Republican or democrat presidents. So I took umbrage to the DM top article of 24 hours ago. It was followed by a Piers Morgan piece taking Trump to task. The headline of the Piers piece was "PIERS MORGAN: America doesn’t want a King Trump, still less a deluded, boastful, petty and spiteful Emperor with no clothes"
You and I both know that, if the press and the house democrats clamored for Obama to shut down the economy based on his authority as president, we would not have gotten articles of the President has no clothes.
If the Daily Mail wants to blare headlines of what the president can and cannot do, maybe they read the US Constitution. There is no law against them reading it. What is their excuse. DM is based in England? Okay, but the DM US version reports heavily on the US, so maybe some of their reporters should bone up on the US constitution.

It is a fucking zoo run by animals that should have gone extinct. The last Corona virus in 2002 (SARS) was basically a Chinese problem. It kind of looked like this one would be too. That and the 1st victims were all form a nursing home and were 70s, 80s, & 90s. It is hard to get worked up about that. I have plenty of relatives in those age ranges. I don't worry about them. I worry about the young ones mot the old ones, who have their retirement figured out and have lived long lives.
Most of the reporting on this corona has been bullshit. 6 months from now do a stem and leaf diagram of death toll by age group.

The most charitable way of looking at this is that DM is a clickbait operation. the least charitable way is that the writers of DM appear smart (superficially anyway), but are in actuality dumb as the proverbial a box of rocks.
Is it; “Oh look, we F’d up....do nothing and let everybody feel our pain” OR
“Oh crap, now what...wait, let’s see if we can solve this, so don’t tell anyone so we can save face”
Either one sucks, but my spide sense says the later one.

When Coronavirus start hit hard my country, others from North UE start jokes of us, like "Coronavirus is the excuse for Italians to work less than before".
In the meantime some corrupted health general directors in Lombardy (Lombardia) have the brilliant idea to move eldest with symptoms to the elders rest houses, to hide the numbers, but infecting thousands.
