VOA: US Military Bracing for Pandemic to Resurge

U.S. military officials are planning for additional battles against the coronavirus, even after the current pandemic subsides, pointing to evidence that suggests the virus will be cyclical.

For weeks, infectious disease experts have been warning that COVID-19 could resurge in the United States in September and October as the weather begins to cool ahead of the winter months. It is a threat that has resonated with some of the military’s most senior officials.

“We are all talking about it,” U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff, Gen. Dave Goldfein, told defense reporters Wednesday.

"The potential for it to come back in some cyclical way is likely,” he said. "All the projections are no vaccine for upwards of a year, so that means we've got to refine our ability to survive and operate."

A resurgence of COVID-19 is a real possibility. It really could be worse the next time. If so, it is primarily the fault of the "experts." By ordering shelter in place and lock downs the proper opportunity to build up herd immunity was properly done. The "experts" won't be able to shut down whole segments of the economy next time either and I don't think the populace is going to buy into their BS that the healthcare systems is going to get overwhelmed. This worked well for them this time to obtain wealth and power but as the saying goes "fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." We won't be fooled by the likes of the charlatans of Fauci, Birx, and their teams again.

Note I say the fault is primarily that of the experts. Leaders like president Trump and others also bear much blame for allowing this to happen. Knowing the damage that the "cure" would cause an attempt to find other options should have been sought out. There were other options. 1.) The Swedish model for handling this has been extremely successful. They did not shut down whole segments of their economy. 2.) Those most vulnerable to this could have been asked to shelter in place while the rest of us encounter this disease and fight it off hastening the time in which herd immunity is acquired.

GA is opening up its economy again as is TN. GA is doing this in defiance of president Trump who has made it clear he will intervene if GA does not tow the line. Can the Republicans find a replacement for Trump to run in 2020? Biden might be a viable president IF he comes out strongly against the lockdown orders. We MUST have our economy back sooner rather than later!!

I meant the proper opportunity to develop herd immunity was not properly done. I apologize for the typo. After this fiasco brought to us by the healthcare professionals I may never trust them again!!

Russ,

Lol!! We all will die of something someday. As one of my contacts in the medical profession explained to me, many of us will "die with" a virus AND COVID-19 LOVES weakened immune systems. This thing works quite well for the snake oil salespeople who wish to spread fear and panic. While there is the potential for short term wealth, power, and prestige, I don't think these people thought through the mid to long range consequences.

As I'm sure you know, "dying with" and "dying of" something is a BIG difference. As for me, I plan on living to 140 which is the theoretical maximum human lifespan.
