I'm just a lay person. It is my understanding that the common cold and the Coronavirus are Similar. where's our cure for the common cold? Is this a false hope.
There exist a vaccine for the "common" flu. Elderly people usually get it every year. Problem is that for each year they have to invent it all over again due to all the mutations or variations. But there is a basic vaccine for the basic strain of the flu.
There is no cure for a virus, only vaccines that may or may not keep you from getting a virus depending on if they predicted the correct strain at that time. In short, Vaccine and things to ease the symptoms.

Why say that? Because it is received wisdom?
How many variations are there? They are not infinite, but they are very large. Why are there mutations in the 1st place. Seems to me that we talk about this often enough and with enough concern to ask why 2 or 3 more times?
What are the mechanism for variation? Why do they occur. A good science writer is your friend, whether they have a basic BS in science or any other degree.
My point being is unless you ask why 2 or 3 more times, they will be able to lie to all day?

The FDA does not subject 'vaccines; to the same rigorous in trials as drugs. Meaning for one they are not proven as safe as drugs. Also, you can get a vaccine out in 4 months.
If vaccines target the protein shell of a virus, why would it be any harder to make a vaccine time wise for a corona strain than for an influenza strain? Meaning why are they herding everyone like sheep?

Viruses have the potential to mutate when jumping to a new host. (Thats why they know that the coronavirus in NY originated from the EU, because of its unique DNA)
