Should The U.S. And Other Countries Freeze Funding For The World Health Organization?

Politico: Trump announces, then reverses, freeze on funding for World Health Organization

The president also blasted the U.N. agency’s early recommendations for countering the coronavirus.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced plans to put a hold on U.S. funding for the World Health Organization, accusing the United Nations specialized agency of being “very China centric” and criticizing its early guidance aimed at countering the international spread of the coronavirus.

“We‘re going to put a hold on money spent to the WHO. We're going to put a very powerful hold on it and we‘re going to see,“ Trump said at the outset of a coronavirus task force briefing at the White House.

Minutes later, though, the president walked back the declaration, telling reporters that he was “looking into it” and conceding that a global pandemic was “maybe not” the best time to freeze funding for the international organization.

Trump Says He'll 'Put a Hold' on World Health Organization Funding Before Backtracking (Time)

"They Missed The Call" - Trump Plans To Withhold Money From WHO Over 'Botched' Crisis Response (Zero Hedge)

WNU Editor: The World Health Organization has many mandates pertaining to public health .... raising the alarm when there is a global pandemic is one of them. To say that they have completely failed in protecting global public health is an understatement. I still find it unbelievable that it was only three and a half weeks ago on March 11 that WHO decided to finally declare a global pandemic. President Trump's reversal on freezing funding to WHO was the right thing to do. Even though the organization has failed on a catastrophic level, it is the only organization that can confront this pandemic on an international level. Killing it right now would not be helpful to anyone. But when this pandemic is over, all the people who lead and administer that organization must go. And if they do not, freeze their funds and divert it to something else.

Update: The WHO still has its defenders in the West, and that it is President Trump's fault for this pandemic .... Trump threatens to hold WHO funding, then backtracks, amid search for scapegoat (The Guardian).

Update #2: I put this post up over two months ago, and my blood still boils when I remember it .... WHO Director General Praises China's Response To The Wuhan Coronavirus. Blasts The World's Travel And Trade Restrictions On China Ban And Not Sharing Information (February 4, 2020). This was my red flag that was something terribly wrong with this UN organization.

Update #3: For those who claim that the U.S. government did not respond fast enough, here is a post I put up on January 25 listing U.S. government fears that the situation was going out of control in China, and 5 days before WHO declared the Wuhan Coronavirus (that is what it was called before Covid-19) a public health emergency on 30 January .... U.S. Diplomats And Citizens To Be Evacuated From Wuhan, China. Cities Across The U.S. On High Alert For The Virus (January 25, 2020).

Who Really Failed to Stop the Coronavirus from Hitting American Soil?

"A troubling look at the CDC’s elite Epidemic Intelligence Service."

What about the Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS)?

Why is it that liberals are all of the sudden focused on the military, whom they usually loathe to kingdom come, the end all be all?

Are there not other federal agencies that are suppose to monitor, advise and protect?

WHERE THE FUCK was the CDC EIS?

Well, where the fuck was it?

If the Pentagon is suppose to have -people in China and other p[laces to surveil emerging disease and they are the final word, then plus up the military budget.

Trump declared an emergency before before liberals took notice in debate #11.

I mean fuck man, who are these people, these liberals?

WHO failed us. The EIS failed us. Liberals were on Holy War. But Orange Man Bad.

“China is actually setting a new standard in terms of outbreak response. We would have seen many more cases outside China by now, and probably deaths, if not for the government’s efforts.”

- WHO boss Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus JAN 20, 2020

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, opposed a travel ban from China.

Fun Fact: The Democrats opposed the ban too. Their knee came right up as if someone rang a dinner bell. You might call it a #Metoo movement.

Not to to worry. The average intelligent blue collar knows who to blame. It is self evident upon minimal thought.

White House was briefed by medical intelligence specialists about the spreading contagion in China as early as NOVEMBER - and warning about carnage in Wuhan was in Donald Trump's daily briefing in early January

U.S. intelligence picked up information on a spreading outbreak in China's Wuhan province in November
It wasn't until December 31 that China informed global health officials of the new coronavirus outbreak
Information gained through human intel, computers, and satellites, ABC News reports
National Center for Medical Intelligence documented concerns
Information was included in President's Daily Brief in January after weeks of vetting
This week it was revealed trade advisor Peter Navarro penned doomsday memos about the coronavirus in January and February

I'm glad to see more and more people are starting to see how pro china the WHO really is.

WHO is very pro China. That said, note when we should, could, might have become aware of the virus:

At 1.38pm on 31 December, a Chinese government website announced the detection of a “pneumonia of unknown cause” in the area surrounding the South China seafood wholesale market in Wuhan, an industrial city of 11 million people. The outbreak was one of at least a dozen to be confirmed by the World Health Organization that December, including cases of Ebola in west Africa, measles in the Pacific and dengue fever in Afghanistan. Outside China, its discovery was barely noticed. Over the next 100 days, the virus would freeze international travel, extinguish economic activity and confine half of humanity to their homes, infecting more than a million people and counting, including an Iranian vice-president, the actor Idris Elba, and the British prime minister

That is very definitive. Do parrots read Mandarin?

How often are there clusters?

How often do clusters pop-off and die-off before, but nothing happens?

Secret Squirrel is an old socialist, one that the world has passed by. All he can do is allege and accuse, never account for himself. It's a desperate bid to stay relevant.

Spouse is convinced that COVID 19 was circulating in America in December but people just didn't know it.

You could prove that it was by getting samples from blood work that was drawn at that time and kept or by maybe digging up the deceased and using PCR.

It could have hit relatively healthy people, who felt no or mild symptoms. It wasn't until it there was a cluster and other candidates for the illness were ruled out that we know that Corona was definitely there. It could have been here for awhile and we just didn't know about it.

If someone dies from a respiratory illness in a nursing home, do they always test for influenza? If they don't, then we have an unknown unknown. We don't know what they died of viral-wise. The doctor can make an educated guess, but it is just that.

As you can see with the classy comeback @5:08 squirrel only accuses or alleges. Other than that he can only use behavior he himself decries. The world has passed him by.

Parrots do read English even if they cannot read Mandarin.

At 1.38pm on 31 December, a Chinese government website announced the detection of a “pneumonia of unknown cause

Perhaps Parrot could pull a few strings and find out, if the American government has someone monitoring the Chinese government website or was a computer monitoring it using software to translate? There are 3 questions there.

How many clusters do EIC, NCMI, or WHO typically see in a day, week, month, or year?

Since you are playing woulda, coulda, shoulda, GOTCHA!, how come the DoD sent people to 2019 Military World Games in Wuhan. If the disease reports came back after the games, did the NCMI follow up to see if out soldiers (or their families, coworkers) were sick or had been exposed in late October? We could have fun with that one.

See How that works parrot?

The outbreak was one of at least a dozen..."

Why such in precise wording. Don't they know the exact count of reports to wHO?
Is a dozen high, low, or average? In a typical dozen how many fizzle out.

You do realize that EIS might have at least one person on the ground in China. Also, China is probably harassing them, so how much would they learn? Parrot, you do realize that if you are a foreigner pounding the pavement in China not trying to steal tech or military secrets, but otherwise investigating things such as if a company is a good investment that China will assign round the clock surveillance on you.

Parrot do you ever leave your elder care facility? Like travel the world? Try to become more worldly and knowledgeable? Or is travel limited to looking up pictures?
