"Several researchers have apparently asked to see Imperial’s calculations, but Prof. Neil Ferguson, the man leading the team, has said that the computer code is 13 years old and thousands of lines of it “undocumented,” making it hard for anyone to work with, let alone take it apart to identify potential errors. He has promised that it will be published in a week or so, but in the meantime reasonable people might wonder whether something made with 13-year-old, undocumented computer code should be used to justify shutting down the economy. The problem with many scientists & engineers is that they can code have some ability with statistics, but they commit gross errors in coding and applying statistics. This is irrespective of their degree, bachelors, masters or doctorate.

Maybe instead of adding another person to a country for cheap labor or for welfare./votes scheme, politicians should make sure scientific endeavors are funded with competent staff. Is or was Dr. Ferguson incompetent or merely a skin flint? Have you ever been to London and and see what they want o part a C programmer? 16,000 pounds is not a lot for a one of the most expensive metropolitan areas of the word.

Ferguson like every other scientist or engineer needs to know how to code. But to give it its due the coding should be mostly done by a coder and overseen by Ferguson as a scientist and a manager.

I would like to see Ferguson's code. I bet it would be an education for a lot of people myself included. Maybe Ferguson does not want an education?
