Study Finds: Three In Four Americans Agree Universal Healthcare Is Needed During Coronavirus Pandemic
* More than eight in ten adults agree that the country should provide monthly stimulus checks to citizens until the outbreak ends.
* While 30% of Americans agree that President Trump was unprepared at the outset of the pandemic, 62% think he’s handled the crisis well overall.
LONDON — A recent survey shows how the opinions of the American public have changed over the course of the coronavirus pandemic when it comes to the federal government’s role in one’s health and financial status. Most Americans feel that now, perhaps more than ever before, the country must improve the way it cares for citizens who are unwell and provides for those who are most in need.
The survey of 2,000 adults was conducted by OnePoll over the last few days of April — right when many states were beginning to lift some of the restrictions they put in place at the start of the pandemic. More than three-quarters of respondents agreed that now is the right time for the country to experiment with universal healthcare. Additionally, 76% of respondents feel that people who contract COVID-19 shouldn’t be charged for their medical expenses at all.

WNU Editor: The desire to get a government check with no strings attach exists in all of us. But this is not sustainable, and in the end someone will have to pay for it.

Yes, no doubt a large percentage of the population will always vote in favor of a free handout.
How about we all just stop paying taxes until the lockdown ends?
OCRUMBOGATE.
Trillions of wealth are lost -- thanks to a virus coming from China. And CNN tells us we are not supposed to say that. This is the treason. Right there. You are being made poor, right now. This costs you more than all middle east wars together, and it's been only 2 months.
This is not believable.

I don’t believe this 82% number one bit! No one in my realm is asking for checks. More BS from Media, trying to dictate a narrative - very sad.
Past of the problem is that the guy is 1/2 senile. In past years people would have sat others in front of the boob tube as a baby sitter. Now these people sit others in front of a computer, where these others can look up actual boobs and comment here.
Every time I have to go to the DMV I'm reminded why universal healthcare is a bad idea.
"Yes, no doubt a large percentage of the population will always vote in favor of a free handout."

"As soon as the people find out that they can vote themselves money, the republic is over."
They can vote and print money until people stop buying US bonds and the US is no longer a Reserve currency.
At that point or before, they will have to designate producers /slaves, who are taxed heavily and the chosen, who are political muscle and whom live a degenerate life of ease until called out by high Democrats.
Your impression of what's happening is absolutely true.

I'd really like to know where the people polled live.
Rural or Urban?
Also what occupations?
Farmers, bakers, plumbers, auto mechanics, pilots, teachers, soldiers, security cops, city employees, taxi drivers, game designers, child care, medical. What?
Free money?
Nothing in this life is free.

While I can't be 100% certain, I can say with about 99.99999% certainty that those protesting in places like MI to try and get the government to open the economy do NOT want a monthly stimulus check. They simply want to get back to work.
The key statement of the article is this: "While 30% of Americans agree that President Trump was unprepared at the outset of the pandemic, 62% think he’s handled the crisis well overall."
This positive public opinion result has been a stubborn point of fact in virtually every US poll taken since the Wuhan flu was exported from China, by China and infected the world.
It scares the Dems to death. This election will be won or lost on the success of the US in its fight against the Wuhan virus - both in economic and medical terms. And the virus was supposed to be the new, shiny,, final death knell to the Trump re-election bid.
The Dems find themselves now in familiar quicksand. The fact that a positive outcome for the US is political death for themselves (and vice versa).
The Dems have to weigh their Wuhan recovery language very carefully. But they won't. They can't help themselves. This election will be framed in terms of "Liberty vs. Lockdown" with a clear political divide between the GOP and the Dems.
Guess which side wins.
Good one, Russ. "Liberty vs. Lockdown."
I'm going to take a contrarian viewpoint after seeing so many power hungry politicians willing to bankrupt or keep shutdown businesses. The government is responsible for destroying the economy with their hamfisted approach, no wonder people expect them to pay for it. Too bad that just means the people are paying themselves with money they don't have.
Correct! Especially the part "can't help themselves".
