Steven Pifer, Brookings: How COVID-19 might affect US nuclear weapons and planning
The Department of Defense has begun to ratchet up spending to recapitalize the U.S. strategic nuclear triad and its supporting infrastructure, as several programs move from research and development into the procurement phase. The projected Pentagon expenditures are at least $167 billion from 2021-2025. This amount does not include the large nuclear warhead sustainment and modernization costs funded by the Department of Energy, projected to cost $81 billion over the next five years.
Nuclear forces require modernization, but that will entail opportunity costs. In a budget environment that offers little prospect of greater defense spending, especially in the COVID19 era, more money for nuclear forces will mean less funding for conventional capabilities.

So a virus originates from China, killing many more Americans than Chinese, devastating our economy, degrading our navy and now the nuclear deterence and we ought to believe it's just a common flu and we should just shut up about it or else?
We are deep deep in cold war with China - and given the death toll on our side I'm not even sure this qualifies as cold war. Especially as China is now prepping to invade Taiwan - likely when the second wave of covid kills many more of us.
We are suppossed to shut up. Not complain about it. And it's nearly illegal to call it the Wuhan virus because CNN (with strong ties to China) tells us it's racist. Nearly 100,000 dead now in the US. Trillions (!!) of USD lost.
We are at war and every man and woman that wants to be free better realise that China is not our friend. Do not buy Chinese products! Petition Amazon to drop Chinese goods from their marketplace! Don't buy electronic goods from China - don't plug anything into your laptop or PC.
Get ready.
Like we need more, ffs.
