Russia Coronavirus Cases Are Now The Highest In The World After U.S.

RT: Russia becomes world's second hardest-hit country with 230,000+ confirmed Covid-19 cases, surpassing Spain & UK

With 10,899 more coronavirus infections reported across the country on Tuesday morning, Russia now trails only the United States in terms of people known to have contracted Covid-19.

Nationwide, 232,243 confirmed cases have been recorded since the start of the outbreak, national disease response officials said. This figure is higher than those recorded by Spanish (227,436), British (224,332) and Italian (219,814) authorities, as aggregated by Johns Hopkins University.

It's worth noting that Russia has over twice the population of those countries and has carried out far more tests, with a recent spike in daily numbers attributed by officials to a significant boost in testing for antibodies in Moscow, the worst-affected part of the country.

WNU Editor: They are opening way too early. This decision is driven more by economics than health reasons. As for the high numbers being reported. It is true that unlike other Western countries, they are doing massive testing. All of my family members and friends in Moscow and Saint Petersburg have been tested at least once. But it is also true that the infection is wide-spread, and the hospitals are now full.

Update: This is personally depressing .... Russian border may not open fully UNTIL 2021 – Tourism Union (RT). I can get into Russia, but it means getting a special permit and flying into a neighbouring country like Belarus and then driving to the border to get in. And then there is the 14 day quarantine rule.

"They are doing massive testing." This is true in the US as well. We may have started a bit slowly but this is ramped up now. Naturally courtiers who test more will show more cases. Compounding this in the US at least getting a positive test result is incentivized for the medical profession. As such, number of cases alone don't tell us much. St a minimum we are going to need to have a way to factor in the level of testing. Charts presenting raw numbers don't do this.

"They are opening up way to early." Each country will be different. Each situation is unique. IF a country does really need to close, first identify the industries that are going to be affected the most, consult with them as equals, and I'm pretty sure workable alternatives can be found to reasonable ensure safety to avoid such a draconian approach of a shutdown. If it can't be avoided, then target tax relief and other programs directly to those most affected.

In America, we never should have "shutdown," we're opening back up to slowly, and I pray it's not to late to fix the damage that's been done.

As a Certified Public Accountant, we hsve helped clients navigate the various funding options that are now needed by many as a result of the government's reaction to this. The CARES Act and other programs are more a one size fits all approach and in my considered opinion and experience are not properly targeted to those hardest hit.

As we reopen, I've been amazed to see the innovative solutions put in place by restaurants hairstylists in particular to keep customers and themselves safe. It's a shame we weren't allowed to try this on the front end. It seems Fauci, Birx, and other master minds of were to arrogant and power mad to actually consult with anyone!!
