Military And Intelligence News Briefs -- June 2, 2020

Daily Mail: How Trump could use the Insurrection Act - last used in the 1992 LA Riots - to deploy 'thousands of thousands' of soldiers to control George Floyd protests against the wishes of governors

* President Donald Trump on Monday suggested he would use federal troops to end unrest that has erupted following the death of George Floyd
* To deploy the armed forces, Trump would need to formally invoke a group of statutes known as the Insurrection Act of 1807
* The act permits the president to send in US forces to suppress a domestic insurrection that has hindered the normal enforcement of US law
* It was last invoked during the Rodney King riots in Los Angeles in 1992

President Donald Trump on Monday suggested he would use federal troops to end unrest that has erupted following the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man killed in police custody last week.

'If a city or state refuses to take the actions that are necessary to defend the life and property of their residents, then I will deploy the United States military and quickly solve the problem for them,' Trump said during brief remarks at the White House.

The demonstrations have been largely peaceful, but police in some cities have used force against journalists and protesters, and protesters have clashed with police. Many US cities have set curfews.

To deploy the armed forces, Trump would need to formally invoke a group of statutes known as the Insurrection Act.

Can Trump legally deploy US troops to US cities? -- Zachary B. Wolf, CNN

CNN covers the Insurrection Act of 1807 and concludes:

"Regardless, there seems to be ample legal footing for Trump to deploy the military if he chooses to."

They seems almost issapointed that it would legal.

Also their headline at best is click baity. At worst it makes Trump t seem like a dictator to the casual headline skimmer and I think that was the point. It was to make Trump look bad and throw red meat to the CNN base.

A better title would be "Trump legally deploy US troops to US cities."

It would then be better if CNN followed up with the truth such as

'Random Piles of Bricks' Magically Appearing at Protests While Agitators Hand Out Cash to Rioters'

Friends do not let friends vote Democrat and if they persist, they break off that friendship.

Why, because Democrat funding from rich Democrats or via government budget to Liberal NGOs result in thus:

'Random Piles of Bricks' Magically Appearing at Protests While Agitators Hand Out Cash to Rioters'

Anyone seen parrot? Is he handing out cash at the protests? Someone is. Have not heard form parrot in awhile. Just wondering.
