The Pandemic's Second Wave Is Here Now

Daily Mail: Florida posts a record COVID-19 spike for the SECOND day with almost 10,000 new infections and Texas towns begin imposing curfews as seven states see their highest daily rise in cases and the US death toll hits 125,000

* Texas towns have begun issuing curfews and stay-at-home orders again amid record spikes in virus cases
* The US recorded more than 45,000 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, its largest single-day increase
* Florida, Utah, Georgia, Tennessee and Idaho recorded largest spike in infections in a day on Friday
* Florida on Saturday morning reported 9,585 new infections in the last 24 hours, a record high for a second day, and 24 additional deaths
* Nevada doubled its previous high with 1,099 new cases on Saturday as Arizona reported 3,591 new infections, matching its prior record
* Governor Greg Abbott gave bars in Texas until midday on Friday to close down, while Florida's Department of Business and Professional Regulation told bars to stop serving alcohol on their premises
* The abrupt announcements marked a major step back by both states less than two months after aggressively reopening and becoming the first in the United States to lift lockdown measures

At least seven states are seeing record spikes in daily COVID-19 cases, highlighting the worsening spread of the virus in the country's southern and western regions and prompting officials to rollback their reopening plans.

The US recorded more than 45,000 new coronavirus cases on Friday, the largest single-day increase of the pandemic after five states including Florida, Utah, Tennessee, Georgia and Idaho saw record new highs.

Underscoring the worsening spread of the virus, Florida on Saturday morning reported 9,585 new infections in the last 24 hours, marking a record spike for a second day, and 24 additional deaths.

Meanwhile Nevada has doubled its previous high with 1,099 new cases and Arizona matched its prior record with 3,591 new infections.

The US death toll is now over 125,000, the highest in the world, with a total of 2.49million confirmed cases.

Update: Houston is approaching ICU capacity while LA is closer to a 'critical moment' amid COVID-19 spike as experts warn rural counties in Arkansas and Missouri have seen cases double in a week and US virus cases pass 2.5 MILLION (Daily Mail)

WNU Editor: The media's narrative is that the "second wave" is here because the economy is opening up. That is partially true. The "second wave" is here also because of the mass protests that gripped major US cities three weeks ago .... It's Not Just Red States - Philadelphia, San Francisco Fear 'Second Wave' As Thousands Infected At BLM Protests (Zero Hedge). Here is an easy prediction. If cases continue to rise accompanied by rising deaths and full ICU wards, and it looks like that is where we are heading, the U.S. is facing a second lock-down.

The Good News About COVID-19 the Corporate Media Keeps Hidden

"The U.K. reported excellent results with the generic, inexpensive drug dexamethasone. "

This makes sense. For SARS they used steroids to manage the cytokine storm. Managing immune response and cytokine storms is something doctors know how to do.

Hydroxychloroquine

"Seventy-two percent of doctors in Spain are using the drug combination."

Yea, it’s like the damn media needs a crisis to just itself, along with the Dems who need it to wreck the economy ahead of the elections. I am damn tired of all this crap; is the death rate increasing!!?? The answer is no and possibly declining as people infected might be a lot greater. We do NOT need another lock down, we need to keep the economy going and do the sensible things to keep us safe.

The first "lock down" failed. The definition of insanity is to try failed policies over and over again expecting a different result.

Very few leaders actually wanted to reopen and only did so when they did because they knew if they didn't when they did there'd be nothing to reopen as the companies would be out of business!! This metric is unchanged. Having already experienced the horrors of shutdown it would be a shame to go down that road again.

The ultimate super spreader was the George Floyd protests yet in their infinite stupidly, at least in TX, the government targets bars, restaurants, and river rafting!!

The sad thing is that no one is collecting data to link protesters to increased Covid cases which is absolutely insane to say the least.

Social Justice trumps pandemic...welcome to the new age of lunacy.

Anon (3:40),

So true!! As I understand it, NYC will not even allow the contact tracers to ask if an infected person went to a protest.

With contact tracing and increased testing which the "experts" wanted it is literally possible now to make both numbers of infected and percentage of positive tests go as high as they want. Governors who fell into that trap may have a hard time getting out of it. Of they were to take "lockdown" completely off the table, we might actually get somewhere!!

I actually think the Brazilian model is the best one to handle this. Don't shutdown whole segments of your economy and allow herd immunity to kick in much faster. Encourage young people to gather in large groups and we get herd immunity even faster. Perhaps it might not be a great idea to visit the grandparents right now though!!

This analysis is sound if we assume "this is a naturally occurring virus that escaped from a Chinese lab." If it's not, surely POTUS would have been briefed on this. In which case he would have told us.

Riigghht. All the states mentioned here were really big protest and riot states. Morons.

All states have a blue component. All states have had protests. Look at where the spikes are within states.
