Noting china's decreasing standing in the world these days for at least two reasons, that choice is questionable.

A good Analysis. China always starts from where they are now. Fights for what they have now. And looks where I can salami slice off pieces the puzzle. Never forget China always plays the long game.
Well, making a front against USA, why not? But right now the front is mostly against China, this means China has to make a lot of change in its behavior and that's also a long way to reach this goal.
