Covid-19 Cases Continue To Rise In The U.S.
Daily Mail: Data map shows 45% of US counties are seeing uncontrollable spread of COVID-19 outbreaks - as latest model predicts 224,000 American deaths by beginning of November
* The data map, compiled by Esri, shows that 45% of US counties are seeing an 'epidemic trend', or uncontrollable spread, of coronavirus cases
* This uncontrollable spread is occurring across the Sun Belt states and parts of the Midwest
* Of the 3,141 counties across the US, 1,415 are currently experiencing an epidemic outbreak and 1,103 are seeing spreading trends, which is an outbreak that could still be controlled if preventative measures are taken
* Only a handful of states - including Arizona, Louisiana, Alabama, Florida and South Carolina - are only experiencing epidemic or spreading trends
* Currently, the number of infections across the US has surpassed 3.4 million and more than 137,000 Americans have died from the virus
* The latest modeling projects the number of COVID-19 deaths in the US to increase by 20,000 in four weeks
* The University of Washington's IHME model forecasts the near-universal use of masks could save 40,000 lives between now and November
Forty five percent of counties across the United States are currently battling uncontrollable COVID-19 outbreaks, a data map shows - as the latest models predict the number of deaths will surge by at least 20,000 in the next four weeks.

Mississippi, Arkansas, Georgie, North Carolina and Tennessee are the states where only one or two counties are not currently seeing an uncontrollable spread.
Texas and California - two hot spot states - have a handful of counties that have controlled the spread, according to the data map.

WNU Editor: My brother lives in California, and he tells me that the situation is getting worse .... Californians turn against each other amid 2nd coronavirus shutdown (L.A. Times). Fortunately where I live (Montreal, Canada), the situation has definitely improved. My friends in family in Russia and Ukraine are telling me that the situation is improving, but slowly.

The main problem in the US is the increased emphasis on testing and contact tracing. Naturally this is causing our cases and percentage positives to "spike." Scale back testing and contact tracing to levels practiced by normal, well adjusted, and sane countries and cases drop dramatically. Also, take away the shenanigans surrounding how test results are measured and how deaths are tabulated and both cases and deaths drop still more. Of course by behaving as other nations are on this thing it becomes difficult if not impossible to justify the imposition of lockdowns. Certain government officials want the lockdowns, they think it benefits them in some way, and they are going to do whatever they need to do to justify them. In other words, no lie is to great. No human suffering is to great. They are going to do whatever they can by hook or crook to get those lockdowns they so desire!! Truly a sad situation.
It becomes even sadder when we recognize that this truly is a serious disease even though it does NOT warrant the draconian responses that have arisen from it. Such draconian actions by governments actually undercut their messaging.

There is a saying in America: "No Shit Sherlock"
Did they not say that sooner or later that 60% to 70% of people would get Corona virus with or without a lockdown. They said that travel restriction on flights from foreign countries would slow it, but not stop the spread.
So just take 60% of 330 million or 80% of 330 million and that is how many cases we will have. If we insist on testing everyone we will find 198 to 274 million cases and the vast majority will be asymptomatic.
Unless this virus is man made, it is nothing special.
If this virus was that bad people woulds not be playing politics with it. People like that ditz of a speaker of the house. Did you see her designer scarf used as a mask? Is she is advertising her availability to Hollywood to be in a Western about a stage coach robber? That gauzy scarf won't stop much. The weave is not that tight. It is kabuki theater.
So yes, the number of cases will go up and that means jack shit.
No one would be here without viruses. Without viruses we wouldn't have 23 chromosomes among other things. Point is we cannot live without viruses. We have to live with them, We cannot avoid most of them. The most we really can do is have a working immune system. What we are finding out is who has one and who does not.
We are also finding out that placing people, who test positive for corona back into a nursing home is a bad idea. But such a person may survive politically given enough press air cover.
Amazing how the latest global maps show the US with the most cases. Other large countries (Brazil, India, Indonesia) may not be testing as much given their dearth of resources. That is understandable. Another part is do we really believe the Chinese statistics? Those world case totals serve the propaganda efforts of Animal Farm (The American edition).
The ESRI map doesn’t jive with my personal experience. I’m in north Dallas supposedly where the map shows pink. People are doing exactly what they did pre virus with the exception of wearing masks when in a public place and following some sort of social distancing. Otherwise no sense of a public health problem.
Amazing to think that California, Texas, Florida and Arizona combined still have just over half the deaths that New York has.
Interesting observation, anon 5:31. I'm waiting for cue-moe to comment.
A top Trump campaign adviser recently appeared on the Russian-government funded TV network RT, which U.S. intelligence agencies have said plays a role in the Kremlin’s plans to undermine American democracy.
Trump campaign senior legal adviser Jenna Ellis’s appearance on RT’s The Alex Salmond Show aired on July 9. She appears to be the first Trump campaign official to go on the Russian-funded network since the 2016 election.
During her interview, Ellis defended Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic and bashed the American media as “propagandist activist media.” Ellis also accused Fox News—the cable news network most friendly to the president—of having an anti-Trump bias.
“Even on Fox News, the president has been very outspoken on Twitter that there are some anchors there and there are some particular shows that aren’t really fair in terms of their editorializing some of those stories,” Ellis said. At one point, she told Salmond that he, a former First Minister of Scotland, knew “as a journalist” how proper reporting works and that American media wasn’t doing it.
Wow, what a late post for Fred. He might miss his evening toddy.
