(Bloomberg) -- An alliance of terror groups aimed at destabilizing peace in South Asia is emerging in Afghanistan as U.S. troops pull out of the war-ravaged nation, security officials said.
Pakistan-based militant organizations, the Lashker-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, the Afghan Taliban and Islamic State-Khorasan, the local affiliate of the terror group, have come together to carry out raids on Indian assets in Kabul and also attacked a Sikh temple in the city, the officials said, requesting not to be identified citing rules on speaking to the media. The alliance is planning to step up attacks in other regions in South Asia, including against troops in India’s Kashmir, they said.

WNU Editor: This is a long term problem that will probably take decades to burn itself out. The US has been there for almost 20 years .... it is now time for Afghanistan's neighbours to step up and fill the US void once they leave.

Never meddle in a civil war, you are always be the looser.
I keep saying this; leaving at this stage is dumb. We should just rule the air from hardened bases. This allows us to strike at terrorists from above and keep an eye out on them. The UN would reject this but it’s what is needed.

If the Taliban wage guerrilla war like they have been, they can kill local officials and intimidate the locals with small teams. Would Afghan intel and soldiers be able to root them out.
If not the Taliban would be the de facto government. They would operate much like the mafia collecting rent or via protection rackets. The Taliban could make more money as a shadow government than the legitimate government would.
There are at least 4 countries that do not want us in Afghanistan.
Pakistan (our ally)
Iran
Russia
China
If Afghanistan and Pakistan's geographic position were reversed and we could resupply from the sea I would say lets stay and we can win. As it is, I do not think we can win.
Leaving opens up conflict between Russia and China.
The downside of leaving is the every American NGO will try to bring as many Afghans into the US as possible. They will look for a Minneapolis say "It is too white" and place the Afghans there.
Of course the upper management of these NGOs will have their 6 figure salaries paid by the USG and get bonuses for that year.
