Riots Break Out In Minsk After Belarus Presidential Vote





Daily Mail: Protesters clash with riot police as 'Europe's last dictator' secures another landslide in Belarus despite fury over his dismissal of Covid-19 as 'psychosis'

* Clashes came after President Alexander Lukashenko's landslide victory
* Lukashenko, 65, has held office since 1994 and dismissed Covid as 'psychosis'
* Outraged opposition supporters came out in their thousands to demonstrate in disbelief that the repressive strongman had secured 79.7 per cent of the vote

Police fired stun grenades at the crowds of people who had taken to the streets of capital city Minsk.

Protesters clapped, honked their car horns and shouted 'victory' in solidarity with the opposition.

Lukashenko, who was a collective farm manager under the Soviets, has repeatedly come under fire for his record on human rights through his five terms of office.

More recently he has been targeted for his cavalier attitude to the Covid-19 pandemic which he dismissed as a case of mass 'psychosis'.

WNU Editor: I have a lot of friends and contacts in Belarus. From what I am hearing, no one voted for President Lukashenko. Claims that President Lukashenko won with almost 80% of the vote is .... as you can assume .... being met with derision and contempt.
