Global Times: Deployment of US forces to Taiwan means war: Global Times editorial
Military Review, the professional bimonthly journal of the US Army, in its latest issue published a series of articles on the so-called China's armed invasion of Taiwan. A US Marine Corps captain in his article called for returning the US forces to Taiwan, and another article suggests providing a corps of "two-to-four divisions... against the PLA bridgeheads" and "dispatching an Army heavy corps to Taiwan."
These articles have triggered a strong response in the island of Taiwan, and the Taiwan secessionist forces have been greatly encouraged. However, some have pointed out that it is unlikely the US military will publicly deploy in Taiwan.

WNU Editor: China's state media is reacting to this report .... New Report Advises The U.S. Army Should Plan To Send Four Divisions To Taiwan In The Event Of A Chinese Invasion (September 23, 2020). What's my take. The Chinese would see a US military deployment to Taiwan in the same manner that the US saw the Soviet Union's deployment of nuclear missiles in Cuba during the Kennedy administration. It is their line in the sand.

Freedom of association means something or it does not. If you don't have Freedom of Association, you might as well have the 4th Reich, Mordor, pick you dystopia.
I would like to see Taiwan as part of China, but the manner of the joining and the system they live under matters.
