Another 17 people died within 28 days of testing positive for the illness as of Sunday, bringing the UK total to 41,988.
he number of new coronavirus cases recorded in the UK has fallen for the second day in a row, despite a significant increase on last weekend's figures.
A total of 5,693 people were registered as having tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, compared to 6,042 on Saturday.
