President Trump supported and implemented one of the most brutal economic shutdowns in the world in response to this. Then when state governors such as the GA governor pushed to reopen, POTUS criticized his actions harshly essentially signaling that the most vile attacks against him were acceptable. Then when other governors such as the governor of SD didn't shutdown their states in the ways Master Fauci wanted POTUS did nothing to support them and stood idly by while their being attacked.
POTUS supported one of the most brutal responses to this in the world. When state governors terrorized citizens who were just trying to survive, nothing concrete from POTUS on this. Essentially he signaled he supported these actions. L. In order to curtail some of these abuses, it actually took some state governors to step in, say ENOUGH, and then act to curtail these abuses by the locals. No help from POTUS.
Shutting down the economy was the worst mistake Trump has made assuming it really was a mistake on his part. Perhaps he likes hurting people. The admission I want to see is him FINALLY admitting the economic shutdown was a terrible error and reopen the economy fully without preconditions to the best that he can.
Based upon government actions it can be reasonably concluded that COVID-19 is not a serious health threat to rhe nation as a whole, however, it can abd is being used as excuses for rhe government to abuse it's power. Also, top military officials are using the distraction as cover to further needlessly provoke Russia and act stupidly in the South China Sea. Maladjusted children sometimes develop homicidal tendencies. Top US military officials are like children in adult bodies. Unfortunately their crazy actions place my loved ones in danger. Combined with the utter incompetence of US (un)intelligence and it's hard top imagine how this could end well for us. It seems POTUS may FINALLY be calling these people out. I pray it's not to little to late.

The damage it has caused will probably supersede the damage that the pandemic has caused itself.

One must keep in mind this breakout was unique. The virus itself was unusually virulent and difficult to understand, I have read.
Some egos were interjected into the situation much too much and offset understanding and progress. One political party springs to mind.
The virus is not bad at all. Unlike flu it does not kill healthy kids. It will kill kids with cancer, diabetes or lupus, but nit health kids.
It mainly kills old people and even then often Democrat edicts are the cause.

I have an elderly relative of about 76 years of age that teaches school every day this semester.
Am I concerned? Yes. Am I terrified? No. They do not have cancer, diabetes, obesity, hyper tension etc.
No your relative is a bit older and has some comorbidity and absolutely should be quarantined
