Is Chinese President Xi Planning To Annex Mongolia?

Paul Lin, Taipei Times: Mongolia might be Xi’s next target

Late last month, Beijing introduced changes to school curricula in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, requiring certain subjects to be taught in Mandarin rather than Mongolian.

What is Chinese President Xi Jinping (習近平) seeking to gain from sending this message of pernicious intent? It is possible that he is attempting cultural genocide in Inner Mongolia, but does Xi also have the same plan for the democratic, independent nation of Mongolia?

The controversy emerged with the announcement by the Inner Mongolia Education Bureau on Aug. 26 that first-grade elementary-school and junior-high students would in certain subjects start learning with Chinese-language textbooks, as opposed to starting in the second grade, as was previously the case.

To appease the strong pushback, a second announcement was made, saying that no further changes would be introduced.

However, the decision to stop using Mongolian to teach first-grade elementary-school children had already set the cat among the pigeons, and people were worried that the changes were the thin end of the wedge, with others likely to follow.

WNU Editor: The Chinese I know have always seen Mongolia as a part of a "greater China". This move to change the education curriculum for students within Inner-Mongolia is just a small step among many to finally accomplish that goal.

Why can the Manchus conquer Chinese twice, but not the other way around?

Why can the Mongolians conquer Chinese once but try many other times, but not the other way around?

The Chinese see their loss of Mongolia as the result of interventions by The Russians, Germans, French, British and Japanese and also the Unequal Treaties that went with their interventions.

Why is it that Sage Mavens in the West knowingly nod their heads about how people in the Middle East can carry grievances for a thousand years, but Chinese are not supposed to remember back 200 years.

When it come to the history of America every liberal remembers back 500 hundred years but the Chinese cannot remember 200 years.

A person can validly argue that the Chinese claim is based on the Manchu claim/conquest and therefore invalid. It would be backed by any law that the UN came up with and their non-existent army. So riddle me this. The Vietnamese claim to the Paracel Islands are based on the French colonial claim. How is that valid but the Chinese claims to Mongolia not valid? Sure the Mongolians declared independence and the Chinese accepted it 10 years later, when they were weak. That would and should stand up in a court of law, but laws are amoral. For one thing the Chinese have perverted WHO. They can pervert other parts of the UN as well. For another chauvinists don't care; they just count.

China does not need Mongolia. It would be a poison pill to be swallowed, but the chauvinists have an appetite for poison lately.

Russia would be a natural ally for the US. B(e) (Im)Poster, a stopped clock, would be right. Russia and China are 'allies', but that could change very quickly depending on actual or perceived power ratios. If China really wants Mongolia, then they also want the left bank of the Amur river, too. Again, it is one of those Unequal Treaties.

If or when China goes to a 3 child policy and we do not here about Tibetans and Uighurs, I would be scared.

Is 3:11 flippant?

Does anyone doubt that China would do what Ghenghis would do, if given a chance?

I think 311 has a point. Russia's population is shrinking. By 2070, Russia will be at about 80 million, and China at about 2 billion. Nukes won't help Russia.
Another virus will come, the Russians by then will have long forgotten the Wuhsn lab or Covid-19. AI and monetary advantages will do the rest.
