USA Today: Trump's tensions with the military grow after reports that he disparaged soldiers, generals
WASHINGTON – Suckers and losers, warmongers and pu-----.
President Donald Trump has reportedly used those labels to describe American war heroes and Pentagon brass. It's enough to rankle even key Trump allies, including the top Republican on the House Armed Services Committee.
And it shows just how fraught Trump's relationship with the U.S. military has become.
"It’s a mix," Rep. Mac Thornberry, the vice chair of the Armed Services Committee, said when asked about Trump's standing with the Pentagon.
Thornberry himself took issue with Trump's comment on Monday suggesting that Pentagon leaders "want to do nothing but fight wars" so they can keep defense contractors happy.
"It's exactly the opposite," the Texas Republican said, adding that commanders are often the most reluctant to send troops into battle because they've seen the consequences up close. "Their motivation is to serve the country, and I don’t see how that can be questioned."

Update: Trump lashed out at generals in conversation with aide: Woodward book (The Hill)
WNU Editor: The main stream media thinks President Trump's remarks on the Military brass is going to hurt him. I think the opposite. It is probably going to help him a lot. What do you think?

There's way too many Generals in the US armed services today. Most of whom are bureaucrats and risk-averse managers. Their ilk is exemplified by that Vindman shit weasel - who was stopped before his flag rank was handed to him. Political climbers, not patriots. Those people have infested the Pentagon. And yes, many are suckers, losers ans pussies.
The backbone and leadership reservoir in the US military is found in the Enlisted and Warrant Officer ranks.
Listen to progressives like Jimmy Dore, and I promise he will celebrate Trump's statements as true, which furthers the progressive left's narrative that Biden is actually worse for the country because he is beholden to and "toes-the-line" for these "war mongers".
I think Trump will be fine. His base won't care and many liberals, especially progressives, are living in bad faith with their own values if they disagree with him.
How many generals in the army?
how many is too many?
based on what?
tell us, sailor boy
1:36 since you're so smart tell us what is the right number of generals, big mouth.
Name the last war American generals won? Kuwait.
Iraq performance by the generals was A disservice to all the guys maimed by IED’s.
Afghanistan has been a failure. Inexcusable given world history in Afghanistan past wars.
If you know the answer let's hear it. All you do is whine. So let's hear it genius.
I've believed this since David Hackworth was exposing the 'Perfumed Princes' decades ago. It seems that while the military keeps downsizing enlisted and moving to more an more expensive weapons systems, the officer corps seems to remain relatively static. And a large percentage of them move on to lucrative careers in the defense industry.
Agree with David W.
I think some learned from their Vietnam experience but there is still a too large per cent who gain rank from two situations; time in grade and not screwing up. Neither produce great officers.
5:44 you must be talking about Clerky, but he claims valor in Korea.
small deadly space earth
General Kelly is perhaps the wrong person for any job involving Iraq or Afghanistan.
IMO he suffers from sunk cost fallacy, since his son died in GWOT.
So take what General Kelly says with a grain of salt.
Frederick Lapides is semi-literate. Any bets on if he knows the meaning of sunk coast fallacy?
As a retiree who spent 22 months in Afghanistan, I say President Trump is correct. Troops know the difference between grunts and the brass and are not offended at his statements.
An article came out recently that we have more generals on active duty today than we did during WW2. I had to just shake my head. You can only plan a military career up to Colonel; after that the selections are political. All generals are political operators.
The last war we "won", or at least didn't embarrass ourselves too much in, was Desert Storm. That war was run by generals who got the shit end of the stick in Vietnam--Schwarzkopf, etc., who learned from the failures of American generals in the Vietnam War.
