A person wearing a protective mask stands by a going out of business sign displayed outside a retail on Sunday in New York City. Permanent business closures are rising, new data shows
Daily Mail: Yelp data shows 60% of small businesses that closed during the pandemic have now shut their doors permanently and 97,966 firms in total have closed for good - with restaurants and bars among the hardest hit
* New data from Yelp shows rise in permanent closures in pandemic lockdowns
* Since March, 97,966 businesses across the country have permanently closed
* That is 60% of the 163,735 total U.S. businesses on Yelp have closed since March
* Restaurants are the hardest hit category, followed by bars and nightlife
* Professional services and tradesmen have seen the lowest closure impact
* Closure rates are higher in large cities with high rent and strict requirements
New data released by Yelp has suggested that a staggering 60 percent of businesses that were forced to shut down temporarily in the coronavirus pandemic have now closed their doors permanently.
As of August 31, 163,735 total U.S. businesses on Yelp had closed since the pandemic began in March, with 97,966 of those going on to shutter permanently, according to a report from the company.
Despite the lifting of the harshest lockdown measures in most areas, the pandemic continues to take a steep economic toll, with capacity limits and lower demand driving many small companies out of business, the data shows.
Restaurants have been among the hardest hit businesses, with 19,590 closing permanently since the pandemic began.

WNU Editor: The U.S. is not the only country that is facing economic hard times .... Downtown Montreal sees an over 90 per cent decrease in people heading to work (CTV News). I live in Montreal, and it is surreal to see the store/restaurant closures and the empty streets. This reminds me of Russia after the Soviet Union collapsed. There was no work, and the government did not have the means to help the average citizen. People survived by relying on family and friends. It took about a decade for Russia to crawl out of that mess. Is this the future for countries like the U.S., Canada, and others? Are we all facing not a Great Depression, but a Greater Depression? You tell me.

Politicians and bureaucrats wanted their power. Fauci, Redfield, Pelosi et al are all useless, avaricious conniving simians.
A Machiavellian politician would see the virus as a god send. Old age pension is insolvent and the virus kills pensioners.
A more humane politicians might see the virus as terrible. The pensioners who are sick need to be quarantined to save them and a vaccine found. But they would think you do not kill everyone for the sake of pensioners.
A Pelosi (Graf von Baltimore) class politician sees this as Kristalnacht and Night of the Long Knives combined.
The virus is real; the magnitude of the crisis is man made.
People can count deaths and circumstances of viral deaths in their local communities outside of media spin. It is not as bad as they say except for spree killers like Cuomo. Some grifters in the media and politics may get hurt.
"As reported on Wednesday — Nashville Mayor’s office colluded with Nashville Health Department to hide actual COVID-19 numbers from the city because the numbers were so low.
They wanted to hide this from the citizens.
There is even more BS from Blue Mayor Cooper in Nashville, Tennessee.
First mayor John Cooper hid data to keep Nashville bars and restaurants closed. Now there is also evidence the mayor’s office created a target metric that is never met by hospitals even prior to the COVID-19 pandemic"
Last paragraph above is another exampled Figures lie and and liars figure
Lawsuits are kind compared to pitchforks they could use.
Just more proof that the pandemic is overblown. Protect the elderly, but don't kill everyone in the attempt to protect the elderly.
Very easy to get NAZIS during a Depression. Is that what Democrats want?
It would appear so.
"The virus is real; the magnitude of the crisis is man made." This pretty much nails it. The rest of what you say is fully accurate as well.
DEM LEADERS in Nashville are waging war against businesses and residents. - John Rich

If Nashville City Leaders Would Hide Accurate COVID-19 Numbers, What Other Metros Might?
If Nashville City Leaders Would Hide Accurate COVID-19 Numbers, What Other Metros Might DO?
"it is impossible to say if they were actual cases, especially with what we know about the sensitivity of the PCR test. Up to 90% of such tests are not detecting a virus that can cause illness or be transmitted."
Certain THRESHOLLDS need to be met before the AVERAGE PERSON'S DEFENSES are OVERWHELMED or can get SICK.

Stat is a fairly good news source. However, the linked article does not contain stats and has generic reasoning and advice. When talking adjectives and adverbs, a person could reason almost anything. Perfect fodder for a pol.
The CEBM article has actual numbers that you could base policy on and defend in the light of day or at least debate openly and honestly.
The Trump campaign raised more cash than just about any campaign in history—and it’s still broke, pulling TV ads in big states and slowing down key data operations.
On the latest episode of The New Abnormal, Rick Wilson breaks down for Molly Jong-Fast—and the rest of us—how Team Trump managed to burn a billion bucks. First off, the Trump spent something like $400 million to raise that billi, an absolute ungodly sum, straight into the fundraisers’ pockets. So you’re down to $600 million.
Then you take the Trumps’ skim off the top, call it 20%, and you’re at $480 million. Throw in some bonehead moves, like $11 million on Superbowl ads and another million on D.C. market ad buys. Layer in $20 million per month in staff costs and—well, it ain’t the first enterprise Trump has run into the ground.

Steve Bannon said something and since he is a conservative, all the rest of us conservatives must absolutely believe him without question. Is that your take Fred L?
Parrot, I realize that I have grievously sinned in your eyes. I criticized a holy of holies. I criticized a sitting Democrat mayor. I am soooooooooooo SORRY! NOT!
Here is Cooper's wiki page.

You can look at it in 3 years, when he is voted out of office. I am sure you will have a good cry at that time.
