WNU Editor: So why the main stream media whirlwind over the Woodward revelation that President Trump downplayed the pandemic, even though he said the same thing publicly five months ago (see above video)?
Update: Not surprised by this admission from Bob Woodward. Its all about money and trying to influence the US Presidential election .... Bob Woodward defends keeping revelations about Trump and coronavirus quiet until book release (USA Today).

I'm confused.
You were criticizing WHO and China (rightly so) about not coming out with the truth, not telling the world just how bad this virus is.
But when Trump does exactly that - downplaying the virus, which he did - you put it down to him not wanting to cause a panic, and giving him a pat on the back for it?
Bit of a double-standard at play there.
OMG the President was trying to prevent panic in the masses, and economic collapse. This benefits his presidency, 'impeach the mo**er fu**er".
Except for "confused" the genius big mouths haven't shown up but hope springs eternal.
FAIL.

Trump has some blame.
Ah genius at 4:07. By the way all caps are not bold, but you should know that.
Pearl Harbor bombed. FDR does not want to upset the nation so says little or nothing
9/11 Twin Towers destroyed. Bush says a mishap of no great consequence. Nothing to get excited about
Just relax, do not worry. Forget the virus, forget masks, just go about as always and all will be ok
US intel official: I was told to downplay threats by white supremacists, Russia
What does the above prove, nothing. Come on genius you can do better than that!

I'm confused too. Not wanting to install panic would be prudent for a leader. When we panic, we tend to make poor decisions.
Here's where I get confused as well. By his actions Trump did not understate the threat nor did he do anything to prevent panic. He's being criticized for something he didn't actually do!!
By his actions Trump overreacted to the threat by supporting one of the most brutal and opprrssuve economic shutdowns in the entire world. When certain state governors expressed misgivings ot a desire to reopen their economies, Trump either offered no support, criticized them, or stood idly by while some of these people endured some of the most vicious personal attacks imaginable. Then when some states didn't go along with the draconian federal response, they were completely alone with no support from POTUS.
The federal response from Trump and others has been a massive overreaction. I liken it to an immune response where the immune system overreacts. In this case, doctors act to weaken the immune response.
No wonder China didn't want to fully communicate with us on this. They knew our government would overreact setting off a massive economic train wreck. The devastating poverty unleashed from this as well as the extreme stress it has caused has already caused ill health and death that will far exceed what COVID-19 ever could cause.
When does POTUS admit he over reacted and the worst mistake he ever made was agreeing to and fully supporting the economic shutdown? Yet our media elites tell us he understated the threat!! Very confusing indeed!!
Based upon the actions of government officials COVID-19 does not pose a serious threat in the grand scheme of things. It does provide excellent cover for power hungry governments though so the "crisis" is quite beneficial to them. Additionally US military leadership has used the distraction posed by the "crisis" to further act stupidly in the South China Sea and to further needlessly provoke Russia. These actions place all Americans in grave danger. COVID-19 is minimal in comparison.
Clerky again! You can dish it out but can't take it can you? What does ASA stand for again, maybe your student can tell you.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration on Thursday imposed sanctions on a Russian-linked Ukrainian lawmaker for interfering in the U.S. presidential election by releasing edited audio recordings designed to denigrate Democrat Joe Biden. Those recordings have been promoted by President Donald Trump.
The action by the Treasury Department is the second time in as many months that the administration has called out Andrii Derkach by name. U.S. intelligence officials said in a statement last month that Derkach's disclosure of the recordings, which capture conversations between Biden and Ukraine's then-president, were part of a broader Russian effort to disparage Biden before the Nov. 3 election.
Mostly agree Poster.

You "mostly agree." Curious, where do we disagree?
At this point, Trump is accused of things like concealing the threat posed by COVID-19, understating, or some such thing. I do not see him doing any such thing. I see the opposite!! He oversaw or at least did nothing to stop one of the most brutal economic shutdowns in the entire world. When people asked questions as to the efficacy of this, he stood idly by and allowed them to endure some of the most vicious personal attacks that have ever been endured by anyone at anytime. A few states, SD, OK, and NE come to mind, did not opt for the same level of these brutal shutdowns. TX, where I live, was not as brutal as some of the others on the state level at least. Nevertheless they were VERY BRUTAL!! POTUS offered no support or public understanding for the positions of these states at least in a material way. In fact, his actions indicate he wanted them all to act like CA or NY. When some states sought to reopen, GA was among the first, Trump was brutal in his criticism of GA officials taking the time to go out of his way to oppose the state position. As stated, he's being accused of something he did not do!! Like most US government officials he oversold and overhyped the threat far from concealing it!!
Perhaps a full understanding needs a full context. The leadership in Montgomery County TX had models in March that suggested 100K cased of COVID-19 by the end of April even with social distancing and mask wearing. Based upon these models they made their decision to shutdown and follow the lead of the state and the federal governments. We have come nowhere close to this dire prediction. While I can't be certain, I think it a reasonable assumption that federal and state officials including POTUS were receiving such dire warnings. Based upon this many acted in good faith. If the numbers project out similar for the United States, that means about 52M cases. Even with our ridiculous testing regime, contact tracing, and financial incentives to overstate both cases and deaths we aren't going to come anywhere close to that. So, if POTUS chose not to make public such dire predictions, then perhaps we could say he mislead people. As it turns out, the dire predictions were totally bogus and the president acted on them. As such, he and most officials overreacted, overstated, and overhyped the threat. Of course with 52M cases predicted with 100K in the mid sized county where I live alone to say such things aloud by a leader would create mass panic, chaos, and make things worse. Off topic: if people really understood the risks a mid sized country like Iraq under Saddam Huesein posed to us much fewer would have been so gung ho to go to war against it!!
Supporting the shutdown and not trying to stop it was the worst mistake Trump has made. I want to know how and why this happened someday.
so retarded
wich way did it go fools
