Could China invade Taiwan Under President Xi Jinping And Win?

Mr Xi has warned Taiwan "must and will be" reunited with China.(Xinhua)

Bang Xiao and Michael Walsh, ABC News Australia: Could China invade Taiwan under President Xi Jinping, and would they win?

Yuke Chen is worried about having children — but not for the same reasons as most people in their twenties.

The 24-year-old Taiwanese woman says she fears China will one day move to take back her island home by force, turning it into "the next Hong Kong".

Today, Taiwan is celebrating Double Ten Day, a day the self-governing island views as its National Day, however, China views Taiwan as a breakaway province and has never relinquished the right to use its military to seize control.

Earlier this year, Chinese President Xi Jinping warned that Taiwan "must and will be" reunited with China, and urged the island's people to accept that fate.

I'll read the article time permitting. With that said a better question is "can Taiwan win?" Assuming the US brings everything it has conventionally to defend Taiwan there's no doubt China would win and should the US use nukes of course China and their Russian allies are going to counter with nukes of their own. This assumes American military assess can actually get there or that we can supply what is already there. In the event of an invasion of Taiwan, one of the first things things China and their allies will do is blockade America.

Perhaps in even asking can Taiwan win is yet another example of hubris on the part of US officials who tend to grossly overestimate our abilities while grossly underestimating those of adversaries and potential adversaries. This situation is VERY DANGEROUS!!

As I've discussed here and elsewhere numerous times, militarily Taiwan's only real chance is to work to ensure the inevitable Chinese victory is so pyric and China understands this so they don't ponder the invasion. Combine this with finding something of value to supply China with and war risks losing that and real peace is possible.

Is the current policy working? I'd say no. A top Taiwanese official recently admitted they've spent 900 million dollars scrambling planes to try and counter Chinese incursions. At this rate, Taiwan will be worn out and bankrupted very quickly. As such can China win looks like a very stupid question!!

I'll read the article time permitting, but I don't need to, because I got TPM from boss troll.

OR maybe the Taiwanese pilots do not have to fly for training as they get their flight time in on real life intercepts, so you are just moving money from one pot to another pot.

Many people take accounting. You don't have the lingo down. Strange

Thanks for the reply. I actually read quite a bit about China/Taiwan conflict. When we study substring enough, we learn not to waste time on stupid. With that said the editor says it is a "must read," he shared it, and his track record is good.

So I will read it. As I am quite bust tending to family matters it will have to be some time tomorrow.

You raise an interesting point, however, 900M is a great deal of money for a country like Taiwan and in such a short time. As such, I believe this pace of continued will overwhelm the pilots, the planes themselves, and the flight crews. Maybe I'm wrong. The only way to "know" is to actually have the war.

As far as "lingo" goes, it is a bit different among corporate financial accountants than it is among income tax accountants. I'm an income tax accountant. Perhaps you're more familiar with corporate financial accounting. If you really are "curiius," I think you know how to contact me. If not, let me know. I'm happy to supply my contact info again.

Contact you, so I can get the Colonel Félix Cortez sham background noise treatment?

Not sure who Col Felix Cortez is or what he might have to do with the China/Taiwan is. This looks like a distraction to me. Of course you aren't going to contact me. This would challenge your preconceived notions and threaten your precious ideology.

Poster,
What leads you to think Russia would support China in a war of Taiwan? I would think Putin doesn't want any foreign adventures where there is nothing for Russia or him to gain. Especially with China right on Russia's least populated area.
Russia's economy and population are not large. China wants Taiwan for some reason. I would think Putin couldn't care less.

Aggressive state are like snowball rolling down a hill.

Today Taiwan tomorrow the Russian Far East

"Putin couldn't care less." Perhaps this is so. Unfortunately American leadership went out of their way to start Cold War 2 by expanding NATO when we informally agreed not to do so. Then our leadership invented the Russia collusion hoax while comparing Russian leaders to "Nazis." Such stupidity would be bound to cause blowback.

As for China on Russia's least populated area, maybe Russia wants a strong America and this is why they supported Trump. There has been reporting on this. Keep in mind America needs peace. Russia doesn't and they can easily defend their borders. Ad for America, the start of the Wall is helpful but not nearly enough. Our borders are nowhere close to being secure and are being ignored.

That is why St. Petersburg and Moscow have a problem with young Migrant Muslim men.

Who agreed to not formally do so?

Detroit has an even bigger problem with such migrant Muslim men. As had been said, get the log out of your own eye before trying get the speck out of someone else's.

Funny but the name is not Russian. Maybe you married one?

I have seen that type of fast, reflexive push back form immigrants when you talk about their country.

Detroit doesn't exist. It is merely a mark ion the map where there are a maze of streets without houses and at its center what liberals call a jewel, a collection of skyscrapers. If it wasot for the concrete ad asphalt form the roads and other ferro-concrete obstacles, they would growing acres and acres of corn there.

Now if you want to talk about the ring cities around what use to be Detroit, now you are talking.

I'm pleased you took the time to research my last name. If you took the tijeto contact me, you'd know I'm not Russian nor am I married to one.

As of 2018, Detroit's population was approximately 670K. While it has shrunk over many decades I'm not aware of further shrinkage. The cities around it have similar issues. Add in BLM and ANTIFA that much of America is dealing with and it's indeed a toxic mess.

I should have time to read this article later today. Ig anything is worthy of comment I will do so.
