* More than 229,000 Americans have died from COVID-19 and 971 of those fatalities were recorded on Thursday
* Although daily fatalities are trending back up towards 1,000, one New York City hospital system found that the death rate among the most severely ill has fallen by 70%
The number of coronavirus cases in the US has topped nine million - more than 20 percent of the world's total - as the Midwest and Mountain States report surges in infections.
It comes just hours after the country set a record number of coronavirus cases with more than 88,500 new infections reported in a single day on Thursday, breaking the previous record set on Saturday of 83,757.
This means America's total case count has risen by one million in just 14 days as the nation faces a third wave just ahead of the November 3 presidential election.

This shrieking about "cases" is absolute idiocy. They're POSITIVE TESTS. And there are way too many of those. The PCR test has up to a 90% false positive rate, which makes it utterly useless. If they hadn't closed we would have had millions more dead especially in Italy and new York where the biological bombs came in direct flights from Wuhan, CHINA.

Of course it's a close call and by now I'm fit opening the economy, but only after we learned (after months and still not fully established) that due to the putative nature of this bio weapon, herd immunity cannot be established. It is much slower and way more complex than engineering.. there's no quick fixes, this virus is perfectly balanced for destruction and the misinformation pushed through and by China made problems worse.
