American Boat Captains Say They Were Ordered Out Of US Fishing Waters By The Russian Military Less than 200 Miles From Alaskan Waters

Several American commercial vessels were ordered to leave by the Russian military on August 26 despite the fact that they were operating well within the US exclusive economic zone

 * It is also a vital strategic access point to Arctic Ocean, which is rich in resources 
 * Melting Arctic ice means countries will compete to extract oil, gas, and minerals 
 * Russia was in midst of massive war games at the time of the incident 

Several American commercial vessels were ordered to leave US fishing territory by Russian warships who were conducting massive military drills in the Bering Sea less than 200 miles off the coast of Alaska this past summer. 

The frightening incident took place on August 26 more than 20 nautical miles inside the American exclusive economic zone in the northern Pacific Ocean. 

At the time, the Russian military was staging a large-scale military exercise in the Bering Sea - the first since the Soviet era.
