Outgoing president reported to have looked at military options against Tehran and its allies
Iran has warned of a strong response if Donald Trump goes ahead with plans to use the twilight of his presidency to mount a strike on Iran or its allies in the region.
It was reported that Trump last week looked at options for striking Iran’s main nuclear site, but was dissuaded from taking action after his advisers warned it might lead to a larger conflict in the Middle East.
The report was sourced to four US officials by the New York Times.
Iranian government spokesman Ali Rabiei warned against such an attack. “Any action against the Iranian nation would certainly face a crushing response,” he said in remarks streamed on a government website.

Let us assume for the sake of argument that it is true.
Trump met privately with 5 to 10 senior officials and one of them leaked it to the New York Slime. What is the point of publishing it?
Obviously, to score points as a partisan newspaper against Trump.
Trump and his team have to way the costs and benefits of such an action. Someone argue that the costs were too high and nothing was done. The NYS deemed it necessary to publish it anyway. Did they weight the costs of future lives lost? Doubtful, and if they did they are just hoping that the Iranians just attack Mar Largo. It would make their day.
The the slime at the New York Slime consider what Khamanei's day is like. Does he have sit down discussion with the IRGC and ask them form time how are our operations going in Lebanon, QWatar, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, West Africa, South American Tri-Border Area, Venezuela or the north Mexican border? Also "What can we do to hurt America or Americans today?"

IF Khamanei is having such discussion then maybe Trump is absolutely correct in having the discussions he is.
What have the effete at the NYS done to inform the US public about the goings on in West Africa, the Tri Border Area or North Mexico?
Why would Trump be concerned with the Iranian? Under GWB we were building a missile shield to protect Europe against Iranian nuke missiles and threats. Obama came along, scrapped it and said "Smart Power"' (like he did in Libya) and then asserted that Aegis cruisers and destroyers were better.
