President-elect Joe Biden will find himself facing an immediate public health crisis when he takes office in January, putting pressure on his health team now to hit the ground running.
The pandemic is expected to be raging this winter as cases and hospitalizations are on the rise in the fall months with no sign of slowing as the weather gets colder.
Biden has been receiving briefings for months from health experts, led by Vivek Murthy, surgeon general during the Obama administration, and David Kessler, a former FDA commissioner. Other experts who have briefed Biden include Celine Gounder of New York University and Yale’s Marcella Nunez-Smith.

But I know it is not going to put a dent in the spread of the disease. I live in Montreal, and those measures have been in placed since the end of summer. I have to wear a mask everywhere. Our Covid-19 tests are free. Our medicare system is "free" (mind you we all must pay a lot of taxes to make it so). And we all have sick leave provided by the Federal government (for two weeks). But even with all of these measures, and more, this is the situation in Quebec right now .... Quebec registers 1,234 new COVID-19 cases, 29 more deaths: Saturday's case count is the third-highest the province has registered since the pandemic started (Montreal Gazette).
When the Biden administration realize that this is not working, the next phase in the Biden Covid-19 plan will probably be selective mandatory lock-downs across the U.S.. But we also have that in Montreal, and it is not stopping the spread of the disease.
But it gets worse. What concerns me is that many of the health specialists who are advising the Biden team are recommending a Melbourne response .... Covid: Melbourne's hard-won success after a marathon lockdown (BBC). What this means is a complete mandatory lockdown of the U.S. for a period of 3 months, followed by a gradual re-opening.
I also do not think this will succeed either.
The U.S. borders are open and this disease is rampant in most of the parts of the world. I can easily see a situation where the U.S. may reach a point where Covid-19 has been mostly eliminated, but then rear its ugly head a few months later and putting everyone in the same place where they were before.
And I do not need to describe the economic catastrophe that this will cause to the U.S. economy. Shutting down the economy will result in a collapse of the stock market, massive bankruptcies, a debt crisis that will cripple city and state governments, and high unemployment.
Bottom line. Pandemics only end when they naturally burn themselves out. For Covid-19, the experts that I have been following believe this will happen at the end of 2021, beginning of 2022.

If the virus is man made, what are you going to do? There was talk of cleavage site for one of the proteins for the virus that supposedly made it more infectious or deadly. They said the cleavage site was very suspect. If it was man made, what will the lockdowns do except let someone win a war of economic attrition?
If lockdowns are the order of the day with concurrent deficit spending, debt and trade imbalance, you can win a war by dumping a few new batches of virus every now and then and never fire a kinetic shot. It is not like that bitches Biden or Harris will figure it out.
If the virus is natural, it is like the tides. We have flood and ebb tides. We cannot shut down regularly for flood tide.
IF we shoot down for this "flood tide" another one is coming with the next winter season.
It will be 95% of the time be with the average + or - 3 standard deviations. We cannot freak out every time it is at the high end.
Oh and if you get more people, you get more virus. Certain cave dwellers pretend that viruses only emerges when someone cuts down some trees or comes into contact with a forest creature. With 7+ billion people and counting there are enough people to create reservoirs for a few thousand type or strains of infectious viruses. Nature (wild non-agricultural land) could totally disappear off the face of the earth and we would still get new strains of viruses or we would go round robin and what was old is new again.
Do Democrats think that H1N1 or H5N1 will cool their heels and wait until corona 19 burns itself out?
They could keep us in lockdown for H5N1 , H1N1, corona 20, corona 21, etc for 9 out every 12 months for every year for a decade or more.
They could assign who is a critical worker and make sure their rank & file, appratchiks and loyalist end up with everything.

The response is like responding to Pearl Harbor by attacking Hawaii and then when the Hawaiians refuse to surrender nuking them!! The lockdowns and threats thereof are the gift that keeps on giving to China. I'm sure they never fathomed their amateur hour messaging at the start of this would yield such fruit.

Fail #1 & #2 are not necessary and are self inflected wounds on the US economy. We have hindsight of the Canadian efforts and so to repeat Canadian mistakes is inexcusable
#3 failing can be argued that it was unforeseeable, but like WNU points out, the US has open borders. So if you are honest, it actually is foreseeable.
So Biden will fail 3 times over the course of 6 to 12 months and he will be given kudos by the MSM every step of the way. Jim Acosta will be Nina Burleigh effusive about how good Biden is compared to Trump.
Remember that V shaped recovery? That is going away by March as we enter doddering fool Biden Lockdowns. Buckle up buttercups, it is going to get rough.
