What To Expect From President Biden When It Comes To Foreign Policy

Mark Episkopos, National Interest: Why Joe Biden Gets it Wrong on Foreign Policy

If nothing else, Biden’s recent foreign policy statements are par for the course of his four-decade-long political career—one that has long been characterized by intermittent attempts to seize short-term political advantages by rewriting his own policy history.

The Biden campaign has worked tirelessly over the past year to channel the image of Joe Biden as a “serious person,” particularly on foreign policy matters. Biden, according to this narrative, is an elder statesman who grasps the intricacies of international politics. Trump, by contrast, is presented as an inept bull in a china shop who only speaks the language of “fire and fury.” Only Biden, we are told, can bring back stability around the globe.

Don’t believe a word of it. This carefully curated image of Joe Biden’s strategic acumen and geopolitical foresight is at odds with the former vice president’s own stated views and policy track record. His statements about a variety of countries suggest that they are based less on a strategic view of world affairs than snap judgments.

WNU Editor: I agree with the above analysis that Joe Biden's past foreign policy decisions and positions have not been impressive. But I do not think they can be applied to the Joe Biden of today or to his administration. As I have repeated more than once in this year's Presidential campaign, Joe Biden is not the same man when compared to who he was 8 years ago. One only needs to look at his debate with Paul Ryan in the 2012 Presidential election, and his debates this year, to see how much he has mentally declined during this time.

People like myself who have had to spend years dealing with family members who are suffering with cognitive decline know what to see and expect, and the soon to be President-elect Joe Biden is flashing all the signs. But Washington must continue. The foreign policy that I expect from a Joe Biden administration will be more of a collaborative affair where aides, National Security officials, the Secretary of State, other Cabinet members, and probably Vice-President Harris herself will be involved in the strategy and decision process. President Biden will (of course) provide some input, but with time I expect his input will decrease.

My biggest concern right now is how will Russia and China respond to a Biden Presidency. They know who Joe Biden is, and they know he is no Donald Trump. I predict Russia is going to wait and see. China will be different. The Chinese have a habit of testing new leaders within 6 months after they  come into power. I am speculating now, but it will be military incident. Something like what happened in the first 3 months of the Bush Presidency in 2000 when a Chinese fighter jet collided with an American reconnaissance plane off the coast of China (see Hainan island incident).

Awesome. The US policy will be decided by people like Jon Ossoff, Kamala "Boots" Harris and others of that ilk.

I don't know when or if China will dump the Hunter sex tapes or show the Biden family dirty money financial dealings. If they do it soon the they lost the leverage and maybe Washington toughens up a little once they lose their Biden liability.

IF China waits too long 6 months to 2 years, Biden will be gone anyway and the leverage potential will be lost.

The Biden dirty laundry will come out no later than 3 to 6 months before the 2022 midterms.

Will that help republicans? Yes. That might make it harder for China. But, if they never use there leverage, they waste it.

They could assume that any help from the dirty laundry will be offset by Democrat cheating at the polls. The usual Democrat dirty tricks. No allowing poll watchers. Not declaring vote totals at the end of election day and the rest.

Such a revelation of dirty laundry would be to keep America politics in an uproar with the usual political blood letting.

There is no free lunch here. Democrats dragged a TWD extra across the finish line. Karma is a bitch.

It is an impossibility what 5:02 says. We would have to pull 5:02 off their ass before anyone else could be on it.

5:02 loves processed Chinese takeout. His fave.

This blog is currently heavily slammed by trolls. I suggest to show your support for Trump and transparency/ integrity of the voting process. That's the team to be on. Anyone who claims this was a fair, transparent election is full of it.

WNU hit another one out of the ballpark.

I will be looking for an incident before May or June. I don't think many pundits can put aside their partisanship to look at things clearly. As many times as they have visited a resort in Jamaica or been to London, they remain bigoted in their views. They just think they are worldly. I think it helps obviously that WNU is a foreigner and won't reflexively take a party or national line. It comes from living in Russia, China and Canada for long periods of time not just vacay.

I will also look for past presidential transitions to verify and crosscheck

You mean the only leader in recent history who has the balls to tell them how it is and push back.

If you can prove it was not fair (like Rudy and Trump) prove it in court! otherwise, you are full of beans
every state court Trump went to has said: NO PROOF NO CASE

It has already been shown that the vote can be wrong to 4 orders of magnitude (6,000 votes). That is enough to decide some states currently for president.

They call it a glitch. Why don't we keep talking in hand waving terms. They could have been more specific and then programming types could have weighed in. They could have said "Yeah, that is possible" or thrown the yellow flag at the excuse.

If they named the error about 1% of the population would know what they are talking about and write about. another 10 15% would quickly catch on based on past experience and education and by reading an article on it and WOULD HAVE A GOOD IDEA of if the explanations stacked up.

Instead we got a had waving lie.

The explanation might be as simple as stack overflow. It might be embarrassing or expensive for the company, but so what. We are told the vote is sacred. So should we not get a technical or administrative explanation of how the "mistake" happened?

Joe Biden is ahead by 11,0000 votes in Georgia. Two 6,000 mistakes by such software in Georgia could throw the election the wrong way. That software is used in Georgia.

Now the news said that the precinct or country self reported. I have seen people in the military self report taking drugs. If you self report before getting caught, they don't kick you out.At least at that time. Now in the case of the self reporting military members I know of, they self reported when they showed up for work and learned there was a unit sweep. So no dice.

So this precinct self reported the error. I am sorry that explanation is not good enough. They might have worried they were going to get caught. So they reported their hack as a glitch.

I won't believe it until they explain the glitch.

FAZMAN,

Joe might put up tariffs against Australia, since you guys are not doing enough In Joe's opinion.

So American workers getting a livable paycheck in their lifetime is not as important than a hyped climate catastrophe.

It has been 28 years since the Climate conference in Rio de Janeiro and Miami is still not underwater. It is nowhere close. They gave themselves 108 years. Well 25% is up and we are not 25% of the way to the mythical doom they projected.

Oh and the Democrat leaders keep buying beach front property.

Biden says the US will rejoin the Paris climate agreement in 77 days. Then Australia will really feel the heat

On January 20th 2021 an idiot will take the helm of the ship of state.
