Will Israel And The US Attack Iran During President Trump's Final Days?

The Israel Defense Forces have in recent weeks been instructed to prepare for the possibility that the U.S. will conduct a military strike against Iran before President Trump leaves office, senior Israeli officials tell me.

Why it matters: The Israeli government instructed the IDF to undertake the preparations not because of any intelligence or assessment that Trump will order such a strike, but because senior Israeli officials anticipate “a very sensitive period” ahead of Biden's inauguration on Jan. 20.

 * The IDF's preparedness measures relate to possible Iranian retaliation against Israel directly or through Iranian proxies in Syria, Gaza and Lebanon, the Israeli officials said.

WNU Editor: Aside from the deployment of a few B-52s to the Middle East in the past few days, I see no significant major US military buildup in the region that would occur before such an attack.

No, Trump's primary focus is on the 2022 mid-terms, the 2024 presidential race, and the Republican leadership is no doubt focused heavily on the GA Debate races. A military confrontation right now with Iran would undercut all of this.

The Iranians know this as well and it's generally assumed they like Trump and Republicans far less than they hate Biden and Democrats. By launching an attack on America right now the Iranians undercut Trump's chances in 2024 and Republican prospects in general.

A better question to ask is will Iran attack America or Israel in the final days of the Trunp presidency rather than vice versa. Israel is well defended and has better military and intelligence leaders than the US does making the US the easier target for an attacker. An attack on Israel though would splinter the alliance as it would be political suicide for any US leader to involve us in this but an Israel separated from America poses a far greater threat to Iran. Again, the proper question is will Iran attack America. The media pundit asks the wrong question or perhaps they're stirring up conflict with the idea of crippling Trump's political influence. Then Biden can act as peacemaker or something to this effect.

I meant "GA Senate races" as opposed to "GA Debate races." I apologize for the oversight.
