U.S. Deploys Destroyer Off The Coast Of The West African Island Of Cape Verde To Stop Iran Or Venezuela From Springing Maduro's Money Man From Jail

The USS San Jacinto and its 393 crew members have been deployed to Cape Verde

 * Colombian businessman Alex Saab was indicted by the U.S. in July 2019
 * He is accused of helping Nicolas Maduro avoid sanctions and launder cash
 * Saab was arrested on an Interpol notice in Cape Verde in June
 * The U.S. fears Venezuela or Iran may try and free him from jail before extradition
 * A Coast Guard cutter was initially sent to the island, but it was replaced in November by the USS San Jacinto
 * The warship's mission was not publicized and described vaguely as security
 * The New York Times said it was sent to make sure that Saab did not escape
