Biden Administration To Review Landmark US-Taliban Deal For Peace Talks With Kabul And U.S. Troop Withdrawal

At his Senate confirmation hearing on January 19, Antony Blinken said the U.S. needs means to prevent a resurgence of terrorism in Afghanistan.

Top Afghan officials on Saturday welcomed the decision of US President Joe Biden's administration to review a landmark US deal with the Taliban and focus on whether the insurgents have reduced attacks in Afghanistan in keeping with the agreement.

Washington struck a deal with the Taliban in Qatar last year to begin withdrawing its troops in return for security guarantees from the militants and a commitment to kick-start peace talks with the Afghan government.

But Biden administration officials are to re-evaluate the pact after violence across Afghanistan has surged in recent weeks, despite the Taliban and Afghan government continuing talks since September.

WNU Editor: The Taliban have made it very clear. If the U.S. do not respect the landmark US-Taliban deal for peace talks made last year, the war against U.S. forces and the Afghan government will escalate.

What will the Taliban do?

They will try to kill 100 America soldiers in a year or kill 20 in one month to show up Biden and his puppet master Obama.

Too bad Obama went Khe Sanh on his troop surge. It was nice that the generals gave Obama a commemorative toy soldier to play with after his less than 1/2 ass surge was over. I heard they put a sandbox the the basement afterwards, so Obama could play with his soldier.

could we not learn from our losses in Vietnam? From the Russians in Afghanistan? Some "wars" just aren't winnable

It is a winnable war alright. The question a STEM would ask is if the problem is tractable given the constraints, boundary conditions or parameters.

It is obvious given the boundary conditions that the wear is intractable.

Commercial war games do not use STEM jargon, but they in effect have the concepts. The Board game Vietnam gives win and loss conditions. One is if you pour in troops and crush the North Vietnamese rats, but the conflict goes nuclear, you lose. Do not remember if it was an Avalon Hill, SPI, Decision Games or what outfit made the game. Never played it. Read the review. Thought the condition (boundary condition) was stupid at the time. Now, maybe not so much.

Game designers are not usually military personnel. Does not mean they are always wrong or mostly wrong. Or that a military officer of any type is always better.

Henry Knox had no formal military education. He is the American father of artillery.
