Donald and Melania Trump depart the White House for a final time.BY ANNA MONEYMAKER/THE NEW YORK TIMES/REDUX.
Adam Ciralsky, Vanity Fair: “The President Threw Us Under The Bus”: Embedding With Pentagon Leadership In Trump's Chaotic Last Week
Throughout the final, frenzied days of the Trump administration, a reporter rode shotgun with the outgoing acting defense secretary, Christopher Miller, the man who, under the distracted eye of his commander in chief, became America’s de facto guardian.
In the hours before Donald Trump’s last flight aboard Air Force One—and Joe Biden’s inauguration on the steps of the reclaimed and restored Capitol—many Americans and TV anchors wondered what the hell the 45th president and his inner circle had been doing, or undoing, in his waning days. Until Biden took the oath of office, the country had held its collective breath. Trump, in those final weeks in office, hadn’t simply dented the guardrails of governance. He’d demolished them. In order to watch things up close, I sought and secured a front-row seat to what was happening inside the Department of Defense, the only institution with the reach and the tools—2.1 million troops and weapons of every shape and size—to counter any moves to forestall or reverse the democratic process. I came away both relieved and deeply concerned by what I witnessed.

WNU Editor: I am not impressed with the first half of this Vanity post. The author's biases are at play. But the last half of this Vanity post is a must read.

"pull American troops out of war zones"
How is that possible?
Are we in war?
Did Congress declare war.
"The author's biases are at play."
Which is rich coming from you. Posts you've been putting up along with commentary show your bias. Pot calling the kettle black.
Msm only. Drone.
Adam Ciralsky is a liar, propagandist, and an idiot.
"2.1 million troops and weapons of every shape and size—to counter any moves to forestall or reverse the democratic process. I came away both relieved and deeply concerned by what I witnessed. " bleated Ciralsky
There were already troops in the field. They were and are BLM and ANTIFA. They had the same MO as the NAZIs and the communist had in the 1920's and 1030's. Disrupt opposing political rallies, beat up opponents in the streets, smash glass, and occasionally murder people.
We mostly hear about the brown shirted thugs instead of the red shirted thugs, but only because they won.
The street thugs of the NAZI party were 'autonomous', had NAZI party membership, were in the SA before they were officially enrolled in the SS or Wehrmacht or police.
If the liberals win, it will not be a shock to see someone who smashed windows, set fires (arson), shined lasers in the eyes of police to be the police chief or be enrolled in the FBI or military.
There paramilitary forces are on the streets now. These forces are gambling and they appear to be right that so long as they keep their weaponry before a certain threshold, people of foresight and balls like Milley will simply refuse to see anything.
Milley, who never was in combat as a 2nd LT or LT, has balls of hot flowing butter. And I mean flowing like a superfluid, frictionless.
I could point out that the new Sec of Defense, Lloyd Austin is a pure bred Swamp Creature as well. Go read his Wiki and focus on his earnings after he retired from the Army. He checked all the boxes with swampy think tanks and companies. Whatever energy President Trump brought to the DOD to clean up its act has vanished with the incoming ChinaJoe administration.
Why is this must read again?
I thought Adam Ciralsky had a MFA in creative writing like Ben Rhodes. I also thought he was of Slavic extraction based on the surname. Wrong on all counts.
I am plowing through Ciralsky's writing thinking there is so much extraneous description of people and setting that I though he was writing a novel. Nine more such articles of this length and we could bind them all together and sell it as a novel or breatheless tell all book.
I looked up Ciralsky's bio and found.
" I'd like to know if he admits his family has actual contacts with right wing politicians like Prime Minister Netanyahu. If not contacts, then maybe his family has donated money to Israeli government causes. From my experience with rich Jewish friends from college, I would fully expect Adam’s wealthy daddy to support Israeli political or social causes in some form or other, perhaps though the United Jewish Appeal.”
Why is Adam carrying water for the Left?
Other than leaving garrulousness in the dust and knowing a lot of facts, but never enough for context, why is Adam considered smart Wunderkind again?
AFTER FOUR YEARS, WE HAVE NOTHING, NADA, FROM YOUR MESSIAH. NO HEALTH CARE. NO WALL (TO BE PAID FOR BY MEXICO)...JUST ONE BIG BIG TAX BREAK FOR THE VERY WEALTHY AND A HUGE DEFICIT. THE PANDEMIC A TOTAL MESS DUE TO TRUMP UNABLE TO LEAD. ONE PERSON AFTER THE OTHER FIRED. HIS MINIONS TRIED TO OVERTURN THE GOVT AND HE STILL MAINTAINS HE WON THE ELECTION AND THE NATION BREATHED A SIGN OF RELIEF WHEN HE WENT AWAY WITH HIS ILLEGAL BRIDE.
WASHINGTON — The Justice Department’s top leaders listened in stunned silence this month: One of their peers, they were told, had devised a plan with President Donald J. Trump to oust Jeffrey A. Rosen as acting attorney general and wield the department’s power to force Georgia state lawmakers to overturn its presidential election results.
The unassuming lawyer who worked on the plan, Jeffrey Clark, had been devising ways to cast doubt on the election results and to bolster Mr. Trump’s continuing legal battles and the pressure on Georgia politicians. Because Mr. Rosen had refused the president’s entreaties to carry out those plans, Mr. Trump was about to decide whether to fire Mr. Rosen and replace him with Mr. Clark.
The department officials, convened on a conference call, then asked each other: What will you do if Mr. Rosen is dismissed?
The answer was unanimous. They would resign.
Their informal pact ultimately helped persuade Mr. Trump to keep Mr. Rosen in place, calculating that a furor over mass resignations at the top of the Justice Department would eclipse any attention on his baseless accusations of voter fraud. Mr. Trump’s decision came only after Mr. Rosen and Mr. Clark made their competing cases to him in a bizarre White House meeting that two officials compared with an episode of Mr. Trump’s reality show “The Apprentice,” albeit one that could prompt a constitutional crisis.
The previously unknown chapter was the culmination of the president’s long-running effort to batter the Justice Department into advancing his personal agenda. He also pressed Mr. Rosen to appoint special counsels, including one who would look into Dominion Voting Systems, a maker of election equipment that Mr. Trump’s allies had falsely said was working with Venezuela to flip votes from Mr. Trump to Joseph R. Biden Jr.
This account of the department’s final days under Mr. Trump’s leadership is based on interviews with four former Trump administration officials who asked not to be named because of fear of retaliation.
6:30 / 6:32,
We all see your ignorant anger. Have you read Ciralsky's article? I've read 25% of the tripe. It were stink bait, a catfish would turn up its nose.
I wonder what is up with the author. Is he being paid per word? Perchance he uses so many words, because if he does people won't actually read his article and just assume he is smart because it is so long. This is a man who would use 150 words, when 100 would do.
I seriously wondered, if the dude was writing a novel.
Knowing you, you have not read the article. You determined from the where it was published that the article and author were holy and thus determined to counter punch anyone who criticized it.
Anywho 632 we love you. It is all monkey politics with you. Not damn bit of critical thinking in your whole body.
Call that male ex-student you'll feel so much better.
